Position: MARKETING and COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

 Summary of Position

The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for driving broader awareness and support for our mission. The Manager is a dynamic person with a great spirit, positive attitude, and excellent skills, who can contribute to a strong and energetic team. The Marketing and Communications Manager supports the Executive Director, Development Director and Chief Program Officer in creating, implementing, and overseeing external communications. The Manager seeks to expand Children’s Burn Foundation brand awareness through written material and correspondence, social media engagement, website maintenance and expansion, newsletters, creation and implementation of new promotional outreach programs, and training.

 Reporting Relationship:

Reports directly to the Development Director with close working relationship with the Executive Director and Chief Program Officer

 

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with development and program departments to implement the Foundation’s communications and marketing strategy including website, social media, newsletters, writing of brochures, appeals and public relations function that targets donors, media, and other burn community constituents
  • Develop and implement the marketing plan with the assistance of the development director.
  • Review, update and maintain website including all content, graphics, statistics, and links on a weekly basis
  • Work with all departments to help develop targeted social media campaigns for events (Giving New Hope, Golf, etc.) and monthly appeals such as Mother’s Day and Giving Tuesday to maintain consistent social media presence and expand social media engagement and awareness
  • Prepare metrics reports on social media reach and growth. Research best platforms for creating new community engagement and connections
  • Manage production of annual Foundation and bi-annual Council newsletters with all departments, Board Chair, Board and The Council, including establishing a calendar of deadlines, collecting articles, letters and photos, and presenting new ideas for content and
  • Serve as the staff liaison to the marketing committee on the board of directors
  • Work with all departments to create press releases, develop and produce educational PSAs, design print advertising and other forms of external communication, and identify professional organizations and media connections to promote the organization
  • Work with outside marketing and PR firm to expand engagement and awareness of CBF and its mission
  • Work with all departments to develop visual program presentations to present at board and committee meetings
  • Attend and participate in CBF events, camps, holiday party and some support groups to get to know the children and families we serve and the volunteers and donors who support our organization
  • Arrange for photography and video of program events for the use in marketing and communication. Create informative, engaging, and inspiring messages. Maintain CBF's catalogue of photos and videos approved for publication
  • Work with Chief Program Officer to expand CBF' presence in the National and International Burn Communities
Additional Requirements:
  • A solid history of marketing and communication experience with robust knowledge of trends in the non-profit sector
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google docs, Dropbox, WIX, graphic design software, Raiser’s Edge
  • Basic photography and videography skills
  • Works as a team player
  • Experience in brand management, online communications, and social media
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; able to write in a variety of formats, including press releases, ad copy, long-form editorial, social media, and presentations
  • Integrity and high standard of professional conduct
  • Ability to occasionally work events that occur on weekends and evenings
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines with particular attention to detail
