United Way of Snohomish County’s transformation into an impact-driven modern United Way is one of hundreds of local United Ways across the country who are laser-focused on a new business model to achieve deep community impact. With the employee giving model expected to continue declining in years to come, and donors demanding a genuine relationship, United Ways know they must move beyond transactional relationships to achieve true community change. Within this context, United Way of Snohomish County is proactively engaging donors and measuring its outcomes, yet it is clear that achieving significant and deep community impact is an incremental process.

UWSC is currently providing approximately $1M in awards annually directly to the CORE work. This vital work brings great opportunity to the region as United Way is known as a convener that brings people together to address the greatest needs of the community. In addition, in FY 2020, over $250,000 was invested into the community through donor designations.

The new President & CEO will inherit an organization with a $3M budget and 15 staff.  The new leader will have six direct reports, including Directors of Impact and Investment, Finance and Operations, Communications and Equity, Resource Development, and Human Resources, and an Office Manager and Executive Assistant. You’ll work with a diverse and professional 17-member board that is packed with expertise and waiting for a leader to engage them at a deep level in the mission and help them tap into their networks for stronger relationships. The President & CEO will have a mandate to provide leadership within the staff, board, and community toward the success of the CORE Collaborative work.

  • Fundraise to provide additional support to the CORE Collaboratives and close the UWSC budget deficit.
  • Ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion are embodied in all grantmaking, community convening, and board and staff policies and practices.
  • Develop strategic partnership(s) with other nonprofit(s) and stakeholder entities that have similar missions and greater capacity, to create economies of scale that allow all involved to better serve the community and invest in systems change.
  • Foster a positive and supportive organizational culture that improves staff morale, cohesion and retention.

Ideal candidates for this position will be passionate about the mission of United Way of Snohomish County and the CORE Collaboratives. The successful candidate will have strong leadership, management, communications, and relationship-building skills, and a track record of successfully managing change processes.

Ideal candidates will be authentic, trustworthy, and transparent leaders with the following qualifications:
