Hoag Hospital Foundation (HHF), the philanthropic arm of one of the top-ranked hospitals in California and the highest-ranked hospital in Orange County, seeks a collaborative and strategic vice president for finance (VP) to lead and elevate the foundation’s financial operations. The creation of this new senior leadership position follows significant investment in and growth of both Hoag Hospital (Hoag) and HHF; the dramatic increase in philanthropic support to HHF over the past decade has contributed to further and reaffirm Hoag as a leader on the forefront of advanced care. 


Working in concert with a visionary President, engaged board, and experienced staff, the VP will join the Foundation at an exciting moment in time. Building upon the Foundation’s upward trajectory and the momentum of the recently completed $760 million campaign, the VP is responsible for strengthening the financial infrastructure to support the Foundation’s growth and further integrating Foundation processes with those of Hoag Hospital to ensure the effective stewardship of assets and greater operational efficiencies. As a member of the Foundation’s senior leadership team and a direct report to HHF President Dr. Flynn Andrizzi, the VP will formulate and execute on a strategic financial plan, including a multi-year budget, and oversee all financial activities related to Foundation operations and to the transfer of philanthropic funds from the Foundation to the Hospital. The VP will provide astute financial counsel aimed at realizing the Foundation’s ambitious goals and aspirations, in order to advance Hoag Hospital’s mission and impact.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, a track record of fostering team success and capacity building, a willingness to take calculated risks, and a demonstrated ability to apply data-driven strategies to advance a philanthropic enterprise. The successful candidate will have progressive financial leadership skills in healthcare- or university-related foundations, higher education, academic medicine, or other similarly complex organizations with an understanding of philanthropy concepts and terminology, as well as experience working within a campaign setting. This individual must understand IRS rules and regulations; be familiar with all current financial rules, policies, and procedures; and possess a keen understanding of accounting, tax, compliance, budget, and financial analysis and planning. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred. 

Hoag is a nonprofit regional health care delivery network in Orange County, California, consisting of two acute-care hospitals in Newport Beach and Irvine, 13 urgent care centers, nine health care centers, and a network of more than 6,500 employees, 2,000 volunteers, and 1,700 physicians representing 52 different specialties. More than 30,000 inpatients and 480,000 outpatients choose Hoag each year.
