PlayMakers' seeks a passionate and collaborative Managing Director (MD) to join the largest LORT company in North Carolina as we work to revision a future that is inclusive, anti-racist and driven by the passion and inspiration of our artists, staff, students and community. The MD serves as the administrative leader of PlayMakers Repertory Company (PRC) and requires an accomplished and multidimensional background in arts management. MD is to oversee, implement and ensure the sustainability of PRC’s finances, operations, HR, and community relations as well as its operational integrity and excellence.
In partnership with the Producing Artistic Director (PAD), MD is to lead strategic planning for the long-term vision of the company and acts as a principal advocate for the value of PRC to the University, the community and the industry. MD is to uphold and further values of equity, access, diversity and inclusion throughout every part of the organization as well as in PRC’s relationships with external partners and communities. This position also includes teaching and advising for graduate and advanced undergraduate students who work with Theatre Specialists/Professionals in a laboratory /hands-on training environment.
Education Requirements: Masters Degree in Fine Arts or related discipline from an accredited institution.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements: Minimum of three years theatre management experience or equivalent nonprofit or arts management; Ability to work independently, meet high goals, and interact efficiently in a comprehensive research university; Demonstrated project management experience; Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment; Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with staff members, artists, faculty and volunteers; Integrity, authenticity, and enthusiasm; Exceptional written and oral communication skills; Exceptional interpersonal skills; Ability to monitor and meet multiple deadlines; Previous teaching experience preferred but not required.
