Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) is a leading champion for all children in the United States. Founded in 1972, we are the nation’s oldest and largest organization dedicated to the primary prevention of child abuse and neglect, working to actively prevent all forms of child abuse and neglect before it happens. Our success is founded on a nationwide network of state chapters and nearly 600 Healthy Families America (HFA) home visiting sites. We also conduct, translate, and disseminate innovative research based on science that our vast network then puts into action. And we raise public awareness and advocate for family-friendly policies at the national, state, and local levels to support transformative programs and promote the conditions and contexts that help children, families, and communities across the country thrive.

The Giving Officer will be a key member of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA)’s growing development team. The Officer will work closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to execute all development operations, including donor engagement, solicitations, and stewardship. The Officer will be a front-line fundraiser for the organization, with a mixed portfolio of individuals and corporations. The Officer is responsible for conducting high quality prospect research and playing a lead role in executing fundraising events. The Officer will work with the team to maintain standards of gift and record keeping, acknowledgments, and donor recognition.


Duties and Responsibilities

Donor Management and Relations:

  • Manage the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio of current and prospective donors, including individuals and corporations
  • Assists and/or leads in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising goals and objectives
  • Manage corporate partnerships, including employee giving and matching gift programs
  • Conducts research to identify prospects, with an emphasis on donors at $25,000 and below
  • Coordinate with Communications team to develop stewardship emails, social media campaigns, annual report and other messages

 

Event Management and Support

  • Coordinate with CDO, Development Manager, and other PCAA staff to develop and execute fundraising events, including securing sponsors for annual conferences and gala
  • Support CEO and CDO in planning and preparing meetings and presentations

Database and Gift Management:

  • Maintains detailed records of all donor (including major donors) contact, history and moves management; ensures timely and personal appreciation and recognition is completed

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of fundraising or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; should be comfortable and able to present 1:1 and in front of groups
  • Proficient computer skills and experience working with relevant tech systems, including online registration portals and CRM databases (Salesforce preferred)
  • Detail oriented

 

Work Conditions:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other office equipment
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, possible occasional travel, about 5%
