Founded in 2006 by Bancos de Alimentos de Mexico, Feeding America, Food Banks Canada, and Red Argentina de Bancos de Alimentos, GFN serves food banks in 44 countries, supporting partners with the tools to relieve hunger and prevent food waste more effectively in their communities. Food banks distribute meals to a network of community service organizations—more than 59,000 around the globe—that provide food to people facing hunger.  GFN’s goal is to support frontline food banks as they tackle the immediate need to powering a community driven response that builds resilience for the future.

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Director, Foundation Relations will be a mature professional with an entrepreneurial spirit interested in rolling up their sleeves and building foundation partnerships. The Director, Foundation Relations will be charged with the primary responsibility for cultivating and growing foundation partnerships with the target to engage with at least five major foundations within a $3+ million portfolio within three years.  This position will be forging revenue-generating relationships with partners within a nine-person development team led by the Vice President of Development. This person will help drive the strategy for foundation fundraising efforts, develop high-quality solicitation and grant materials, and ensure that GFN builds lasting relationships with foundation funders and prospects.

We seek a self-directed fundraising professional that has a commitment to the mission of GFN. Qualified candidates will be results-oriented and committed to inspiring new and continuing foundation partners to join the fight against global hunger and food waste. The ideal candidate will thrive on identifying, cultivating, and securing gifts with a demonstrated ability in building transformational relationships for sustainable revenue and impact.  They will have a strong network of relationships with large, private foundations.  The qualified candidate actively seeks out new prospect and foundation relationships, directs the cultivation and stewardship process, and is able to successfully close six and seven figure multi-year grants. 

Ten years of professional work experience with a track record of growing foundation support and experience building a prospect pipeline is required.  Strong knowledge of foundations that give in GFN’s programmatic areas is strongly preferred.  Willingness and ability to travel is required.   Bachelor's degree is required.  Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.  Remote work optional.
