Overview

NYU School of Law is seeking a Senior Director of Development to join its Development and Alumni Relations Department. The new Senior Director will join a collaborative team of nearly 30 individuals in engaging NYU Law’s 40,000+ alumni and consistently raising $50-60M for the Law School and $8M for the Annual Fund year over year. This position plays a critical leadership role in advancing the department’s mission to solicit the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of NYU Law, which include critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure.

Reporting to, and working in close collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations, the Senior Director of Development is an instrumental part of NYU Law’s fundraising efforts, and will help develop, plan, manage and implement strategies for increasing unrestricted, restricted, and planned gifts. The Senior Director will manage and maintain a robust donor portfolio and is responsible for cultivating, soliciting and closing major gifts in the 6-figure and 7-figure range. This position will work closely with key senior staff to develop, review, and assign fundraiser portfolios across the major giving and annual giving prospect pools to identify, maximize, and capture donor-giving potential. In concert with the Assistant Dean, the Senior Director will manage and supervise the Development Team (annual giving and major gifts) and the research team. Working alongside the Director, Annual Fund & Reunion Programs, the Senior Director plays a key role in Reunion planning and in supporting the health of the Annual Fund. In partnership with the Assistant Dean, they will oversee several alumni affinity groups/societies such as the planned giving society and the International Advisory Board. They will also play a crucial role in maintaining strong relationships with law firms, and in supporting the fundraising efforts of our Centers and Institutes.
