UCLA College is the academic heart of UCLA and home to more than 85 percent of the university’s undergraduate students. The College’s four academic divisions span research and teaching across both traditional and emerging disciplines in the liberal arts and sciences — and our students go on to become business, government, community and academic leaders in California and across the world. The magnitude and impact of donor engagement is broad and deep and we are committed to delivering the highest level of stewardship to all UCLA donors.  We are seeking a highly collaborative and constituent-driven Director of Stewardship as part of our UCLA College Development team to build and sustain a College-wide donor-centric stewardship program.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Development Communications and Operations, you will serve as a strategic and innovative thinker in the management of UCLA College Development’s stewardship program to expand the program’s depth and impact. A talented communicator with outstanding written and oral communication skills, you will oversee College-wide gift acknowledgement and endowment impact report production; maintain stewardship tracking processes, policies and procedures; and communicate stewardship goals, programs and activities to Development colleagues and College leadership.

You will possess the ability to develop and sustain resilient and dynamic relationships with donors, colleagues, and senior management. In this role, you will collaborate with divisional Directors of Development to create annual stewardship plans for top College donors; work closely with External Affairs central Donor Engagement team to maintain campus-wide consistency and best practices; and develop strategies and resources to facilitate relationship opportunities and maximize the exposure of the College to its constituents. As a team leader, you will supervise professional and support staff as appropriate, guiding and leading them to produce high quality and successful stewardship outcomes.

The ideal candidate should have at least five years’ experience working directly with donors to include strong knowledge of the donor cycle, preferably in higher education or a non-profit setting and/or prior professional experience working with constituents in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. You will have the ability to think strategically about donor engagement and generate creative solutions for stewarding donors combined with strong project management, time management and organizations skills to balance multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this role.
