About Women's Audio Mission: Women's Audio Mission (WAM) is dedicated to the advancement of women/gender-expansive individuals in music production, technology and the recording arts, fields in which women are chronically underrepresented (<5%). WAM empowers 4,000+ women/girls/gender-expansive individuals every year to amplify their voices and creativity with music technology/production training and mentoring in the only professional recording studios in the world built/run entirely by women. Founded in 2003, WAM has grown exponentially to serve 50+ school partners across three school districts and includes two recording studios that we own in San Francisco,  an educational lab space in Oakland, and global reach online to 30+ countries. WAM’s staff consists of teaching artists, audio professionals, and passionate, hardworking individuals in a combination of full time, part time, and contract roles. WAM is currently in a very exciting planning process for national expansion.

Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott recently contributed a major gift to WAM. This gift will be used to expedite WAM’s national expansion into 2-3 cities. The Director of Development will spearhead a capital campaign to support the expansion and manage a portfolio of high-profile individual donors, foundations, and corporate funders. It is anticipated that the development team will grow as the campaign gets underway.
