Executive Director

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for The Tree House CAC (TTH) staff, programs, expansion and execution of its mission and vision to be a leading advocate in the healing and prevention of child sexual and severe physical abuse.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation and oversight of the organization’s financial viability. Responsibilities include administration, fundraising, communications and compliance. recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.

  • Actively engage and energize TTH volunteers, board members, committees, partnering organizations and funders.

  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build board involvement with strategic planning and execution.

  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain TTH’s high-performance management team.

  • Ensure effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate program components so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.

  • Ensure that all practices and policies of the Tree House Child Advocacy Center comply with Federal, State, and County regulations.

  • Ensure that all practices and policies meet the National Children’s Alliance guidelines and standards for best practices.

  • Maintain the Tree House Child Advocacy Center’s accreditation and facilitate the process for re-accreditation as needed.

Fundraising & Communications

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson of the Tree House Child Advocacy Center and actively promote the role of the Tree House in the community.

  • Expand fundraising and other revenue generating activities to support existing program operations and expansion.

  • Work with the Development team and the Development Committee of the Board of Directors to identify and cultivate individual, foundation, corporate, and government relationships for the purpose of generating funding for the TTH.

  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger awareness in the county.

  • Ensure the preparation and submission of grant applications and funding proposals are performed within deadlines and monitor their status through conclusions.

  • Ensure that reporting requirements for fiscal activities and grants are met in a timely manner.

Planning, Prevention & Advocacy

  • Work with staff and the Board to develop, revise and implement strategic plans. • Providing community education as needed for presentations and training to assist in educating the community on the issues of child maltreatment, including identifying victims and delineating the reporting process.

  • Promote the professional development of Tree House Child Advocacy Center staff and MDT members, including encouraging and facilitating attendance at both local and national trainings and professional conferences.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with the MDT partner agencies, including Child Welfare Services, the County Attorney’s Office, the State’s Attorney’s Office, and the police department’s Special Victims Unit.

  • Oversee and support the Mental Health Director and the Victim/Family Advocate programs to maintain high quality intervention services.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with county council members and other officials at the County and State levels to ensure continued support of funding, office space and additional program development and expansion.

Qualifications

The ED will be thoroughly committed to TTH's mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching and relationship management experience.
Specific requirements include:

  • Advanced degree preferred, with at least 10 years of senior management experience; track record of effectively leading a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth.

  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.

  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget.

  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.

  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

  • Successful criminal and child abuse/neglect clearances required.

Ideal Skill Set:

  • Strong commitment to the mission of the Tree House Child Advocacy Center.

  • Knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse and child protective and law enforcement investigation procedures with an empathy for and commitment to the population served.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the Board of Directors, community partner agencies, and Tree House Child Advocacy Center personnel at all levels.

  • Understanding of human resource management in the non-profit sector, including the ability to develop talent and promote a team atmosphere.

  • Understanding of the complexities of vicarious trauma and their impact on staff working with abused and neglected children and a commitment to building and sustaining an atmosphere that upholds best practices for protecting staff against vicarious trauma.

  • Skills in financial management, including budget oversight and compliance with grant funding.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills.

  • Analytical ability and resourcefulness as required in developing and implementing plans, policies, and programs.

  • Demonstrated community involvement and leadership.

  • Flexibility to travel for trainings and community events.
