Job Description:

IIE is looking for someone who is excited to deliver a superb donor experience and can lead a suite of annual events including our centerpiece annual gala. The philanthropy team is a tight knit, collaborative, can-do team. We move fast and take the donor experience seriously. You will be critical in leading a comprehensive donor engagement program. You will deliver gift acknowledgment, recognition, and reporting with the goal of increasing donor satisfaction. You are also responsible for strategy, planning, and execution of the annual suite of events including the centerpiece IIE gala. The annual gala is executed in partnership with an outside events firm and the philanthropy team’s operations specialist.

Essential Functions:

Plans, implements, and evaluates the annual suite of events which may include a high-visibility fundraising event that is a key producer of unrestricted philanthropic revenue. Manages event planning firm, venues, and other vendors/consultants. Identifies possible honorees. Builds prospect lists with the goal of maximizing attendance and fundraising results. Oversees invitation and outreach process. Coordinates with event co-chairs. Coordinates with Communications on gala PR, all printed materials, and the drafting of remarks. Prepares briefing documents for key staff, gala participants, and volunteers. Creates and monitors gala budget. Establishes and analyses metrics to measure and improve the gala’s performance. Prepares reports on the gala for the executive management team and the Board of Trustees.

Plans and executes stewardship and cultivation events throughout the year. With advice and help from IIE program colleagues, develops the content and flow of event programs and recruits speakers. Identifies target audiences and manages invitation/outreach to drive attendance. Creates and monitors event budgets. Manages venue, catering, and logistics.

Maintains files of governing documents for each endowment and coordinates with program staff to ensure that the use of funds matches donor intent. Liaison to departments responsible for the investment and spending of endowed funds, with responsibility for disseminating information to all relevant parties in a timely and transparent manner. Produces annual reports to endowed fund donors.

Manages donor recognition efforts. Brings a donor relations perspective to engagement strategies for current and prospective donors.

Produces communications for donors that convey the impact of philanthropy: stewardship reports, website and newsletter stories about donors and beneficiaries, custom letters to VIP donors, etc. Collaborates with Communications and others to develop compelling messages and materials.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in order to apply a working knowledge of the theories and principles in a specialized field or work discipline.

Requires at least five years of directly related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

History of progressively responsible experience in engagement and cultivation of donors, alumni, or clients.

Hands-on experience organizing large, successful events, including financial responsibility for significant supplier contracts, requisitions, and purchase orders.

Strong project management skills, with ability to develop work plans and timelines, foster collaboration, monitor progress, and ensure effective communication across the team.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task, stay organized, solve problems, and manage time while facing multiple priorities.

Enthusiasm and drive to get projects and tasks done.

Customer service orientation.

Strong attention to details and deadlines.

Proactive and clear communication.
