National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), the nation’s oldest and largest national parks nonprofit advocate, has grown its revenues nearly 100% over the past decade and is poised for further ambitious growth in the next five years. We are seeking a dynamic Associate Director of Donor Relations to lead a team in providing centralized stewardship and engagement services to NPCA’s donors in partnership with the Membership, Communications, and Regions Departments and central development teams.

The Associate Director of Donor Relations must be a creative thinker and visionary, leading as chief strategy architect to create a dynamic new-century model of donor relations to advance NPCA’s development department to the front of the curve. The position will own and curate the donor experience for planned, midlevel, major and principal level giving societies while providing support to foundations as needed. Additionally, it will focus on increasing donor engagement, providing a best-in-class donor experience, and increasing donor retention while communicating NPCA’s mission and donors’ philanthropic impact. Success will be measured in both quantitative and qualitative metrics and is unlikely to be found without a highly collaborative approach.

This position will manage two internal positions – the Donor Communications Manager and Senior Coordinator – and work closely with the Travel Program Manager, Director of Special Events, and Vice President of Communications. The Associate Director of Donor Relations will hold responsibility for all Development Department donor communications and donor constituencies (Mather Legacy Society, Trustees for the Parks, and Trustees for the Parks Cabinet), communicating accountability and philanthropic impact to donors while connecting them to park experiences. Types of communication responsibilities will include the annual report, stewardship and victory reports, donor conference calls and webinars, print and digital collateral (including product line, welcome packets, donor surveys, front-line proposals and solicitations, etc.), breaking/urgent news alerts, programmatic updates, and other items as needed. This visionary leader will also create new, dynamic and interactive forms of communication to lead NPCA development forward.
