Organization Description: Everybody Dance LA! was established in 1999 by Liza Bercovici in memory of her daughter, Gabriella Axelrad, who loved to dance. Using Gabriella’s life as its inspiration, Today, EDLA! serves 4,400 youth at 28 locations throughout Los Angeles with high-quality dance education programming both in-school and after-school. Our vision is to use dance as the method to develop lifetime skills of collaboration, discipline and, self-expression to increase confidence and engage youth in their education, career, and community.

Position Summary: EDLA! is seeking a person who is professional, positive-minded, and energetic to join our administration team in Los Angeles, CA. Under the supervision of the Development Director (DD), the Development Assistant (DA) will support all fundraising, marketing, and external relations functions for the organization. It is important for the Development Assistant to manage multiple projects, at times on tight turnaround, and to meet all deadlines.

 

Development 70%

Support the Development Director in executing the development plan that will result in increased revenue for EDLA! Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Maintain Donor Database, eTapestry, and ensure reliable data, consistent contact entries, and system protocols. Produce donor reports as needed.

Preference given to candidates who have managed eTapestry or similar donor or CRM database. Write and maintain daily contact and donation entries for all contribution from Individuals, Corporations, and Foundations. Update contact records and produce gift acknowledgments for donors daily. Work with Administrative Director to audit the donor database with QuickBooks weekly to ensure consistent and accurate data for reporting. Learn all functionality of eTapestry to expand EDLA!’s ability to communicate with and steward donors.

Produce and coordinate logistics of all Donor Correspondence

The DA will be responsible for creating mailing lists and using Office Word and Excel to merge addresses and letters. In addition, the DA will coordinate with external venders for printing, mail list purchasing, and graphic designing mailers.

Assist DD with event planning and coordinate volunteer support as needed

There will be several fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events each year. The DA will assist the DD with logistical planning, event registration, invitation creation and mailing, and support to the Gala Planning Committee. This will require some evening and weekend hours.

Create On-line Donation Forms and Crowdfunding Campaigns using eTapestry, PayPal and other platforms

Provide creativity and assistance with designing and implementing current and new ways of fundraising through our website, social media, and crowd fundraising.

Communicate in a professional manner via email, phone and in person with donors, board members, and community leaders.

The DA will communicate with high-level donors, board members and community leaders through in-person, phone, and email. It is imperative to maintain professional and positive relationships.

Track and Manage Project Calendar / Timelines as established in the development plan

EDLA! has a small 7-member administration team. It is important that multiple projects are managed, and deadlines remain on track to ensure success. The DC along with the DD will create a Development Plan and Calendar for all areas of responsibility. The DA will manage the Development Calendar and create a weekly / monthly list of tasks.

Support Development Committee

Assist the DD by creating fundraising reports and materials as needed for meetings with the Board of Directors Development Committee. Arrange logistics and communicate with committee members prior to and following meetings.

Digital Media Intern

Work alongside Digital Media Intern to ensure all video, still photo, program reports, needs for social media, website and print marketing are edited and met in a timely manner.

Social Media

Preference given to candidates with Social Media Management Experience. Maintain the social media calendar and post video, photos, and announcements across all social media platforms.

Receive training on WordPress to make updates to EDLA! Website

Support Communications Committee

Assist the DD with materials and reports for the Communication Committee Meetings. Arrange logistics and communication with committee members prior to and following meetings.

Recruitment Materials

Create flyers for distribution at schools and in communities for recruitment of youth in our programs.

Event Promotion

Assist the DD in all areas of promotion of events for EDLA! This includes print, website, social media, and public relations with media contacts.

Mailers

Coordinate monthly postcard mailers to new donors, birthday wishes, and giving anniversaries.

Public Relations

May participate at community events to represent EDLA!
