CIVIC ALPHA Research and Policy Advisor, Part-time New York City or Flexible (remote) Civic Alpha LLC is a pioneering consultancy that designs and implements high-impact philanthropic portfolios on behalf of family offices and private businesses. Civic Alpha is led by Founder and CEO Eric Weingartner who has over 30 years of Government, Not for Profit, and Philanthropy experience. Eric was most recently CEO of The Door, one of New York City’s premier youth services organizations and spent a decade as Managing Director at Robin Hood where he managed and designed the grant strategy for the adult and family portfolio(s), focused on issues including health care, housing, workforce development, immigration, and veterans programs. Eric served as a policy advisor to both Mayor Bloomberg and Mayor Giuliani, and was the former Executive Director of Teach For America.

Civic Alpha’s clients need to understand the landscape where they invest and require that their not-for-profit partners have access to the smartest solutions that allow for advanced operations and high-impact programming.  

Reporting to the CEO, your work will focus on a range of issue(s) including:

• Managing and leading City and National best practice research on:

• High performing not for profits in NYC and nationally

• Policy and issue-related information in the sectors related to poverty, human services, k - 12 education, high education, health care, and more….

• Best practices in the not for profit community; program and operations

• Trends and best practices in the evolving sector of philanthropy

• Conducting/analyzing client interviews

• Collecting, recording and analyzing data; synthesizing findings into slide presentations and memo(s).

• Designing presentations for client(s) based on project requirements

 

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field

• Two+ years experience in a non-profit setting, research or government setting

• A deep commitment to high quality, professional work

• A high level of research, writing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills

• A basic understanding of the relationship between philanthropy, government and not for profit organizations

• Strong project management skills, including time management, organizational skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills

• Proficiency in Powerpoint (required)

• A personality and a sense of humor

 

COMPENSATION: Compensation is project-based, hourly, and commensurate with experience.

LOCATION: New York City or Remote

START DATE: Immediate
