The Senior Director of Annual Fund Giving will be a key member of the Development Department of JTS. The annual fund team, the major gifts team, grants, lay leadership, special events and advancement services, all work together to support the mission of JTS and provide the institution with the resources necessary to educate the clergy, scholars, leaders and educators for the Jewish community. 

 

The Vice Chancellor will consult with the senior director of annual giving, along with the senior directors of major gifts and advancement services, for long and short-range fundraising growth strategies and creative solutions.  

 

The Senior Director of Annual Fund Giving is responsible for coordination and supervision of the team charged with raising approximately $3M of the overall Development goal of $18M.  The annual fundraising dollars are raised through several campaigns from various constituents including alumni, under $5,000 donors, Torah Fund, direct mail givers, annual giving days and synagogues. The Senior director will develop and execute strategies to identify new potential annual fund givers.   

 

 Supervise the following staff and actively support their fundraising efforts; hone strategies, share best practices, and ensure timely execution of goals: 

  • Alumni Affairs: The Senior Director will work with the Director of Alumni Affairs, develop and execute a fundraising, engagement, and marketing plan.  Think holistically about how alumni can be used to support fundraising, lay leadership, and marketing across the organization including Changemakers panels, alumni panel discussions and field research projects for advisory boards, alumni stories in direct mail and online solicitations.  The senior director will cwork with the Director of Alumni Affairs to constantly evaluate and adjust institutional efforts to engage alumni so they feel seen and connected. 

 

  • Annual Fund: The Senior Director will Work with the Director(s) of the Annual Fund to develop and execute a fundraising strategy to maximize dollars raised from lower-level donors, direct mail, and synagogues; find new, low-cost formats for cultivation using Zoom, email, and social media; oversee Direct Mail strategy and companion emails by analyzing data, testing new audience segments, customizing messaging in order to yield increased giving.   The Senior Director will support the annual fund staff in engaging synagogues through ongoing webinars with the Chancellor and faculty members to increase awareness and outreach; supervise annual Days of Giving campaigns coordinating print mail, email and social media as well as maximize outreach efforts through learning opportunities offered through the JTS Community Engagement Department and the Library, among others; continue to build on a new initiative to develop sponsorships for online learning classes.  

 

  • Torah Fund:  The Senior Director will work with the Director of Torah Fund and two support staff, to enhance the efforts of the grassroots volunteers who make up the Torah Fund Cabinet and their teams throughout North America.  Torah Fund is the fundraising arm of the Womens League for Conservative Judaism and the Torah Fund Campaign supports five Conservative seminaries around the world.   

 

 
Minimum Requirements: Please include degree requirements as well as years of experience.

  • Strong project management, organizational, and writing skills 
  • 8-10 years of work experience 
  • Experience with InDesign a plus
