The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Umpqua Community College
(UCC) Foundation is a dynamic and collaborative leader who is
unfailingly positive and creative in the work of supporting
fundraising and friend-raising on campus, in the local community
and beyond! The new CEO should be a relentless supporter of
students, a persistent partner with community stakeholders and
someone who wants to bring a sense of fun and friendship to their
role. The CEO works closely with the UCC Foundation Board and
leadership of the college to ensure direct impact on the lives of
students at UCC.
The UCC Foundation CEO must have a laser focus on the community and
be excited to raise awareness and support for the college by
meetings and greeting, creating social media buzz and urgency and
bringing people into the UCC story. You’ll need to be a social
animal and a creative thinker in order to fit in with our energetic
and enthusiastic board.

Essential Functions
The Executive Director of the Umpqua Community College (UCC)
Foundation oversees the operations, fiscal management, and
fundraising of the UCC Foundation, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization separate from the College. This position works closely
with a volunteer board to support the College's strategic mission,
vision, and goals. Areas of oversight include UCC Foundation
fundraising; budget planning and management; scholarship funds;
donor relations and stewardship; major gifts development; and
compliance with state, federal, and nonprofit organization laws and
financial requirements. This College employee position reports
directly to the UCC President.
Visionary and collaborative leader
- Casts a clear and inspiring vision for the work of the UCC foundation.
- Represents the UCC Foundation and larger college by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations with professionalism, positivity and an innovative spirit.
- Works closely with college leadership to ensure that the foundation works alongside the college in creating success for the college and all stakeholders.
- Working closely with the board, creates priorities for the work of the foundation and analyzes outcomes with an eye to continuous improvement.
- Supports, guides and grows the capacity of the foundation board and foundation employees.
Fundraising, friend-raising and community
building
- Partners relentlessly with community groups, funders and stakeholders in service to UCC students.
- Works with the UCC Foundation Board and College leadership to create, implement, and annually assess a development and fundraising plan aligned with the College's mission, vision, and goals.
- Develops and implements innovative approaches to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts and leadership gifts.
- Leads and manages all fundraising and friend-raising activities, initiatives, and strategies; cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations; in consultation with the College President and UCC Foundation Board, identify and achieve annual fundraising goals and objectives.
- Oversees recognition events, scholarship awards, and fundraising events.
- Prepares an annual development report that includes reporting on endowments, gifts, annual fundraising, scholarship awards, other awards, and recognition and fundraising events.
General Foundation Management
- Manages UCC Foundation operations in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Supervises, develops, and evaluates direct reports.
- Prepares and oversees the UCC Foundation's annual budget; aligns the budget with strategic priorities and College goals; authorizes expenditures, tracks individual funds; ensures accurate and timely collection of reporting data related to Foundation activities; maintains fiscal control and accountability; signs all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the UCC Foundation.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge on fundraising and stewardship best practices, upholding professional development standards and current trainings.
- Manages activities of independent 501c3 holding company.
- Manages and develops employees/talent at the UCC Foundation.
- Participates as an active, engaged, and collaborative member of the UCC Leadership Team.
- Other duties as assigned by the UCC Foundation Board and College Leadership.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Hearing voice conversation, sitting, standing, walking, and keyboarding occur in this job daily.
- Duties are performed with frequent interruptions and/or distractions with fluctuating workload and work schedule.
- Bending, climbing a 3-step ladder, color identification, gripping hands & fingers, kneeling, lifting/carrying 0-50 pounds, standing long periods, stooping, twisting body, and noisy work area occur regularly but not daily.
- The applicant is required to be able to perform these tasks/movements with or without reasonable accommodations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to establish and maintain effective and trusting working relationships with the general public, donors, college administrators, managers, faculty, staff, students, vendors and contractors in a diverse, multicultural, and multi-ethnic educational environment.
- Demonstrated performance in fundraising management and best practices, including planned gift vehicles, charitable remainder trusts, annuities, and real estate transactions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of planning and executing a gifts campaign.
- Demonstrated knowledge of complex operational and organizational budget management. Demonstrated understanding of fiduciary duty, legal requirements, and ethical responsibilities of working with donor funds.
- Ability to make public presentations in a dynamic and convincing manner.
- Ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, and procedures.
- Proficient skill in operating a wide range of technologies including computers, multi- function printers, and various types of software.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines while leading and managing multiple projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of five (5) years professional related experience associated with fundraising, donor relations, grants writing and/or management, etc., preferably in higher education.
- A minimum of three (3) years of personnel management, supervision and development.
- A track record of relentless partnership and community collaboration
- A track record of effective friend-raising and fundraising campaigns and events
