The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, (AMFA), located in Little Rock, AR, seeks a senior fundraising professional to advance the institution during a transformative era that includes the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility, scheduled to open in 2022.  Designed by the renowned architecture firm, Studio Gang, the new facility will include landscaped grounds, by the firm SCAPE, and will secure the AMFA’s position as one of the top cultural institutions in the region. The new building includes expanded galleries, a new Art School, restaurant, Museum Store, theater, lecture hall, and other programming and event spaces.

 

The accompanying successful $128 million capital campaign is funding the project and expanding the endowment. The AMFA is an active partner in the educational, economic, and cultural life of a diverse community, inviting discovery, creativity and learning through engagement with the visual and performing arts.

The Associate Director of Development is a key strategic position responsible for advancing the fundraising program, which will support the AMFA’s operations in its new home.  Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development will work closely with the Executive Director, Board members, department directors, and other stakeholders.

 

Primary Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Builds on the strengths of the existing capital campaign and annual fundraising program; develops an expanded strategy that supports annual goals and the endowment
  • With the Director of Development, implements strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit new and increased gifts for operations and endowment
  • Works closely with the Director of Development, Executive Director, and leadership to identify prospects and implement a robust stewardship and retention plan for donors
  • Deepens relationships with current donors while launching initiatives to identify and target avenues for future financial contributions
  • Supports all development efforts related to the Grand Opening, scheduled for 2022, and the transition into the new facility
  • Assists with the development and execution of event fundraisers, including gala/benefits
  • Reinforces a culture of philanthropy among all stakeholders; guides and supports staff who are engaged with fundraising by fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and accountability
  • Ensures donor data is collected and leveraged to drive outreach and maximize total revenue
  • Reports regularly on outcomes, efforts, and progress toward fundraising goals
  • Other related duties, as needed

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The successful candidate must possess

  • Substantial fundraising knowledge, with five to seven years minimum experience
  • Direct experience in securing significant support from various constituencies
  • Superior organization and interpersonal skills, and have proven success in developing fundraising strategies and with face-to-face solicitation of donors
  • A proven track record in meeting goals and building long-term organizational capacity
  • Strong management, strategic, and operational skills
  • An exceptional written and verbal communicator, and a strong presenter, who can translate the AMFA’s mission and programs into fundraising initiatives that garner financial support
  • A mission-driven individual who values diversity, equity, and inclusion, and has strong affinity for artistic endeavors and artists
  • Knowledgeable about fundraising databases, donor segmentation, and research
  • Self-motivated with a high energy level and track record of success
