Development Associate

Creative Capital is seeking a passionate, forward-thinking, and creative individual to fulfill a key role in helping grow the organization’s portfolio and individual relationships. The Development Associate works closely with the leadership team to assist with comprehensive projects as well as gift processing and other aspects of development operations. The Development Associate is a key role that helps to support the department's efforts across funding sectors and offers opportunities for career growth. A competitive candidate is a confident individual who understands the cultural funding landscape and can skillfully communicate Creative Capital’s mission and work. This position reports to the Director of Development.

Responsibilities:

• Help manage Creative Capital’s fundraising activities and initiatives; tracking deadlines and nurturing relationships
• Draft/write grant proposals and reports for funders, including researching and preparing materials about organizational activities and artist news
• Assist with donor stewardship, cultivating new and existing donors
• Conduct prospect research, identifying and generating new funding opportunities, including compiling financial and organizational data on prospective funders
• Manage donor correspondence, inquiries, and acknowledgements
• Coordinate project planning and communication with other departments
• Implement and track appeals, campaigns, and other special initiatives in print and online
• Handle pledges, gift processing, and ensure accurate data and record input
• Salesforce database management
• Coordinate and participate in development activities, events, and some travel (both online and in-person)
• Participate in and administer various meetings, including select trustee committee meetings
• Other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of fundraising experience working in development, including the drafting of letters, proposals, and reports
• Exceptional writing, communication, organizational, and computer skills
• Demonstrated experience using Salesforce (Classy) or Raiser’s Edge, Excel, and Wealth Engine or iwave, or similar fundraising applications
• Strong work ethic, highly efficient and pragmatic, excellent attention to detail
• Self-directed with a collaborative spirit
• Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
• Knows how to deal appropriately with foundations, patrons, and trustees
• Fundraising background preferred; and interest in art/cultural institutions desirable

The position is full-time (with occasional travel and special events), exempt and non-union. Ideally, candidates are based in or near Creative Capital’s offices in New York City. Includes generous paid time off and benefits. Seeking to fill the position before or by September 30, 2021.
