SEARCH FOR THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
NATIONAL CENTER FOR TEACHER RESIDENCIES
Location: Flexible
The National Center for Teacher Residencies (NCTR) seeks a visionary, entrepreneurial, and strategic leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). NCTR is the only organization in the country dedicated to developing, launching, supporting, and accelerating the impact of teacher residency programs by partnering with key local, state, and national stakeholders to establish and grow teacher residency programs that recruit and develop effective and diverse new teachers.
NCTR was founded in 2007 to transform how educators are prepared for America’s classrooms. Through partnerships with public schools, higher education, nonprofits, and states, NCTR partner teacher residencies have recruited and prepared over 4,300 residents. Since its inception, NCTR has helped to develop more than 50 residency programs that are delivering diverse, talented, and effective educators to the schools that need them most. More selective and rigorous than traditional teacher preparation programs, NCTR’s partner residencies produce teachers who are better prepared to help all children succeed from day one.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be the public face of NCTR, setting the organization’s strategic vision and overseeing its implementation. The CEO will maintain existing and cultivate novel partnerships with key national education leaders and policymakers to help drive and accelerate human capital reform in high need districts around the country. The CEO will harness the heightened national awareness of and support for teacher residencies by securing philanthropic and federal funding and raising awareness about NCTR’s work across the country. The next CEO will be required to build the organizational capacity for NCTR to be a customer-oriented, standards driven, coordinated network and provider of high-quality training and support to emerging and existing residencies. The next CEO will be responsible for establishing and delivering organizational priorities which are founded upon the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and facilitate the creation of a working environment which centers belonging and engagement. The CEO will position NCTR as a thought leader in the field, leveraging a culture that is outcome-oriented, collaborative, focused on excellence, and committed to continual improvement.
