The Missionaries of Africa are seeking a FT Director of Development to expand its established fundraising and planned giving programs. This position requires a strategic thinker who will direct the evolution of the development program to a higher annual level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative and Leadership Engagement

Assumes responsibility for office operations, supervises staff, drafts budget, reviews and classifies applications and prepares reports for the Advisory Board.

Fundraising: Donor and Prospect Engagement

Creates and coordinates monthly and quarterly newsletters, emergency appeals and email blasts, maintains and updates donor tracking tools; manages multiple written communication reports and letters of inquiry; develops and writes grant proposals for restricted and unrestricted grants; manages the direct mail program; consults with list broker regarding acquisition of direct mail companies and fundraising platforms; analyzes campaign results, response rates, average donor gift and donor retention; develops annual fundraising, annuity and estate strategic plan.

Planned Giving

Processes new annuities; closes or severs annuities; prepares monthly annuity payments; updates annuitants' records; prepares requests for annuity proposals and wills; prepares IRS tax forms and e-files; reviews and prepares informational brochures; issues birthday and Christmas cards and prepares annual annuity payments budget.


Submits monthly financial reports to the Treasurer and submits performance reports to Advisory Board twice a year.


Bachelor's Degree with a preferred emphasis in fundraising, marketing, public relations or business required; Master's preferred. A minimum of 3 years of not for profit fundraising experience required. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines, understand donor confidentiality and possess a technological aptitude with donor databases.
