Citi’s Community Investing and Development team works to enhance Citi’s positive social impact through equity investing, innovative financial solutions, and strategic philanthropy.

The Finance & Operations Lead is a key member of the Community Investing and Development (CID) Operations & Finance team, reporting to the CID Director of Operations & Finance. The CID team works to enhance Citi’s positive social impact through equity investing, innovative financial solutions, and strategic philanthropy. The SVP will provide oversight of Citi Foundation accounting and CID-wide budgeting, financial tracking and risk and controls.

Responsibilities:

Foundation Accounting, Bookkeeping, Financial Reporting and Control:

  • Oversee Citi Foundation accounting and manage annual tax filing
  • Manage Foundation’s financial processes, accounting and controls ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards, IRS regulations and corporate and foundation requirements
  • Manage SAGE General Ledger and Accounts Payable system and accurately record all accounting entries, process grant payments, perform monthly reconciliations and closings, and manage month end reporting and review
  • Manage the grant payment and accounting process
  • Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; and clearly communicate monthly and annual financial position
  • Manage Foundation cash flow forecasting and analysis
  • Coordinate and lead the annual external audit and tax filing process and liaise with auditors; assess any changes necessary
  • Investigate and assist in recommending potential investment options 
  • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices in conjunction with the Director of Operations & Finance; improve the Foundation’s overall policy and procedures manuals
Corporate Financial Control, Planning, Reporting and Analysis

  • Manage CID budgeting and financial reporting
  • Ensure that operating and financial targets are aligned with management strategic and operational plan 
  • Develop the annual budget plan and work with the various CID teams to accurately forecast and manage operating expenses 
  • Present recurring budget variance reports to track and reconcile financial targets 
  • Oversee processing of business expenses and expense tracking reports 
  • Interface with procurement and external vendors on service contracts 
  • Ensure adherence to Citi policies and procedures for operational expenses
  • Monitor CEMP changes, communicate changes to staff and be subject matter expert on expense management 
Risk Management and Operations:

  • Conduct productivity and efficiency analyses and drive workflow process improvements and efficiency targets while balancing requirements of staff and regulatory compliance 
  • Provide oversight and guidance to CID business units to develop a best-in-class risk and controls framework across the function
  • Lead cross-functional reviews to ensure business compliance with laws, regulations and Citi policies and procedures
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to CID business units in adherence with Citi compliance and risk requirements such as Citi Screenings, anti-bribery, Manager’s Control Assessment, information security, continuity of business, and records management
  • Manage CID-related internal and external audit efforts and drive business issues and Corrective Action plans
  • Consult CID business units on process improvements and efficiency opportunities that support an enhanced controls environment
  • Ensure adherence with all Citi compliance requirements and initiatives such as Management Control Assessment (MCA), Information Security, COB and Records Management
  • Monitor corporate business practices & policies and develop compliance and control processes 
  • Provide project management expertise to CID business units, including evaluating costs/benefits, making recommendations, developing and overseeing implementation plans
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7+ years of related work experience
  • Nonprofit/Foundation knowledge a plus
  • Excellent project management and problem solving skills
  • Highly proficient in Excel and ability to gain a strong command of new systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, be a team player, take direction, and have a keen ability to prioritize
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Good customer service skills
