Founded 40 years ago, the “I Have A Dream” Foundation (IHDF) is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower children from under-resourced communities to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with a guaranteed post-secondary scholarship. Our dream is a world where every child has equal access to the educational and career opportunities that will ignite their innate potential.  

 

Position location

Position can be performed remotely and/or at the national headquarters in New York City.  Some domestic travel required for site visits, including some evenings and weekends.

 

Compensation & Benefits (FLSA Status: Exempt)

IHDF offers a competitive salary based on the organization’s compensation philosophy, which is grounded in market data. The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000 depending on qualifications.  We also offer comprehensive benefits (medical and dental insurance) and top of the market paid time off (vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays).

 

Position Summary

“I Have A Dream” Foundation is intentionally expanding its national footprint to double the size of its reach by 2030, and is seeking a Growth and Development Manager to support this exponential and exciting growth in new states and diverse communities In partnership and under the direction of the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), this position will be integral in securing resources and ensuring technical assistance is available to support growth and capacity building to new and growing affiliates across the national network.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Program Expansion and Recruitment:

    Works in conjunction with the CGO to implement expansion strategies and recruitment goals, including hiring, training, new affiliate identification process and site development start-up efforts.
    Tracks and responds to inquiries about “I Have A Dream”® Program expansion.

 

Orientation, Training and Ongoing Professional Development

    Develops and maintains orientation and training systems to support new and existing affiliate staff members to assure organizational and programmatic consistency and sustainability. Keeps the Affiliate Playbook of Best Practices updated with information about local, regional, and national resources that are or may become available to local affiliates to assist them to start and conduct their programs efficiently and effectively.
    Assists with the logistics and planning process of the new Executive Director-Program Director Institute.

 

Technical Assistance, Fundraising and Communications with the Network

    Supports local assessment process to determine the capacity and professional development needs of affiliates. Researches, tracks and writes local and federal grant proposals for new affiliate expansion and capacity-building efforts (ie. AmeriCorps VISTA). Researches and helps cultivate potential new affiliate funders (individual, city, state and corporate) in new regions. Communicates by various and collaborative means on a regular basis with local “I Have A Dream” Executive and Program staff in order to apprise them of information, assist with events and fundraising efforts, and provide training and/or conference opportunities that will increase their capacity to manage and expand their programs efficiently and effectively. Prepares articles and other informational documents for the National “I Have A Dream”® Foundation to disseminate electronically, in hard copy or both. Schedules affiliate expansion meetings, coordinates agenda making with CGO and takes minutes to disseminate to members.  

 

Position Requirements

    A desire to support the mission and vision of the “I Have A Dream” Foundation. The ability to drive innovation, change and growth, and be a detail-oriented implementer who can translate strategy into results. Thorough understanding of project management; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines and goals. Ability to build and nurture relationships amongst many stakeholders to create buy in for a final and successful outcome. Strong understanding of technology and information systems, managing a large database (Salesforce preferred), graphic design and website management experience (In Design and Wordpress preferred). Professional fundraising experience with a proven track record of creating and executing effective fundraising strategies for diverse revenue streams, with success in soliciting and closing large gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations. 3+ years preferred CFRE and/or a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field of study is a plus.
