As Penn State looks forward to the conclusion of its historically successful fundraising campaign, A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence, a Children's Miracle Network Director is needed to support the Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR) at Penn State Health and Penn State College of Medicine.

Penn State Health Children's Hospital is a 37-year member of Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. The Children's Miracle Network Director creates and oversees the strategy, work plan and execution of all fundraising, marketing, allocations and administrative activities of Penn State's affiliation with CMN Hospitals. This position manages staff, volunteer and advisory board activities in pursuit of CMN's mission to raise funds and awareness for Penn Health State Children's Hospital. It requires an energetic, goal-oriented, results-driven, hands-on leader with proven experience in cultivating, securing, and stewarding individual, corporate and foundation and community organizations.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Health System Development, and working closely with Penn State Health Children's Hospital's Executive Team, this role will:
- Supervise four full-time staff who support the fundraising
efforts of the Children's Miracle Network program including goal
setting, performance reviews, oversight, and guidance on day-to-day
activities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies and programs to
engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate,
foundation, and community organizations
- Articulate Penn State Health and Penn State's needs, ambitions,
and values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion, through
excellent informal and formal communication
- Manage all aspects of partnership contract with Children's
Miracle Network Hospitals including national meeting attendance,
webinar participation, reporting, liaising with area and regional
directors, and maintaining relationships with CMN national partners
headquartered in 10-county market area
- Personally manage a portfolio of leadership gift, corporate,
foundation and community organization prospects, meeting gift
officer metrics including but not limited to number of
solicitations, dollars raised, and number of visits
conducted
- Recruit and guide diversely representative external advisory
board and volunteer committees charged with meaningful roles and
responsibilities in the fundraising and events-based fundraising
process
- Engage Penn State Health Children's Hospital leadership,
physicians, and care team in the fundraising enterprise
- Develop, implement, and manage three yearly fundraising events
including strategy development, sponsorship solicitation, donor
acquisition and retention strategies, event execution, and
stewardship
- Work with Penn State Health Children's Hospital leadership to
execute an annual grant program allocating funds raised by CMN to
support strategic pediatric priorities - research, patient care and
equipment
- Propose and manage the development budget for the Children's
Miracle Network program
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the use of protected
health information in fundraising and provide guidance in this area
to clinical staff at the hospital when engaging patient
donors
This position typically requires 5+ years related experience and a Bachelor's Degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will also possess: - Experience establishing a shared vision and taking
responsibility for the achievement of fundraising goals
- A dedication to and understanding of the skills required to
build relationships with diverse communities
- Demonstrated knowledge of diversity, equity, and
inclusion
- Proficient ability in strategy development, project management,
financial planning, and development of goals
- Demonstrated awareness of and adaptive actions to emerging
trends within development and medical fundraising; ensuring that
organizational practices remain current and effective
- Willingness to adhere to University and Penn State Health
policies
- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
- A proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently
and as part of a team
- A commitment to professional development, learning, and being
mentored
Operation of a motor vehicle as part of the position's duties and a valid driver's license are required. Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check, in addition to standard background checks, is also required, as well as the following: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
