The mission of the Mass General Brigham Development Office is to provide high quality services that help system affiliates achieve maximum fundraising performance. The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is tasked with the continued management, adaptation, and expansion of these services with the goal of significantly advancing fundraising performance across the enterprise, with a special focus on our specialty and community hospitals. The CDO will provide leadership for new philanthropic opportunities and will be a vocal advocate for the entire Mass General Brigham philanthropic enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and strengthen existing Development Office programs and assets to keep pace with affiliate needs
  • Work as a partner with leaders of AMC development offices
  • Find opportunities across affiliates to maximize resources for better collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Serve as the liaison with other Mass General Brigham offices such as General Counsel, Internal Audit, Finance, and Information Systems
  • Provide strategic counsel and mentorship for community and specialty hospitals as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of extensive fundraising management experience in a complex organization with a successful track record of securing major and transformational gifts
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
  • A solid understanding of all aspects of fundraising and the fundraising enterprise including the applications of the latest industry technologies
  • Experience building systems and informing policies that help track and process gifts in a complex organization
  • Experience in capital and comprehensive campaigns and front-line major gift experience
  • Experience providing strategic counsel to CEO-level executives
  • Experience working in academic medical or highly branded research institutions preferred
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements
