The Institutional Advancement, Development Team is seeking an Assistant Director of Development, Gift Planning to join their team! Reporting to the Director of Gift Planning, the Assistant Director works alongside Advancement staff, College colleagues, and external constituents. The Assistant Director develops, supports, and maintains programs and activities consistent with securing planned philanthropic support for the College; along with some giving to the Rollins Annual fund through reunion, faculty, and staff giving.

Primary Job Responsibilities:


Gift Planning

  • Develop and manage a gift planning portfolio under the supervision of the Director of Gift Planning.
  • Develop strategies for discovery, qualification, solicitation, and stewardship for assigned prospects and donors resulting in gifts for all areas of the College.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with prospects and donors to describe gift opportunities and the impact of the gift on the individual and their estate.
  • Manage programming and appeals for faculty and staff philanthropy and the annual Faculty-Staff Rollins Fund effort - identifying, recruiting, cultivating, educating, and supporting key faculty and staff volunteers.
  • Direct reunion giving campaigns for the 50th Class Reunions of the undergraduate alumni.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Division of Institutional Advancement by working on special projects and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Gift Planning.
  • Perform other relevant departmental duties as assigned.



  • Generate planned gift leads by designing and implementing a multi-channel marketing strategy that inspires donors. This would include, but not be limited to, the production of newsletters, e-blasts, postcards, collateral, and advertisements.
  • Prepare gift illustrations for charitable gift annuities, trusts, and other planned giving vehicles utilizing PG Calc software.
  • Create and assist in executing a timeline for promoting 50th reunion giving in coordination with the Annual Giving and Alumni Engagement teams.



  • Represent the College as the frontline response for calls and inquiries related to Planned Giving.
  • Assist with the stewardship of the Cloverleaf Society including events, communication, and correspondence.


Estate and Gift Administration

  • Process claims for bequests, life insurance, beneficiary designations, and other gifts.
  • Remain current on tax laws, trends, and strategies in planned giving.
  • Manage process to integrate new gift annuities.
  • Assist in the production of reports as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) years of job-related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to learn and utilize Ellucian Banner database, Argos reporting, iModules, and other technology/systems.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to set and balance multiple priorities, and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and grammar.
  • Strong relational skills given the extensive independent contacts with external constituents including alumni, volunteers, donors, trustees and College officials.
  • Posses good judgment skills and complete discretion regarding the handling/storing of confidential data.
  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented environment and ability to work collaboratively with alumni, Rollins faculty, administrators, and staff.
  • Flexibility and strong customer service skills are critical for frequent interaction with donors and volunteers.


Preferred Qualifications:            

  • Experience working in a higher education setting and/or non-profit organization.
  • First-hand Rollins knowledge or experience.
  • Knowledge or experience in planned giving/estate planning.
  • Knowledge of Crescendo and/or PG Calc software.


Work Environment:

  • Campus-based position working in an office environment.
  • Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for Advancement events throughout the year, including Alumni Weekend, Spring Parents Forum, and Alumni Association Board of Directors meetings. This includes some travel.
