The university will be embarking on its first comprehensive fundraising campaign and the Director will play a major role in the Development team's success, collaborating with all unit-based directors of development and the Office of Sponsored Projects.

What you'll be doing

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Development, the Director of Development for Corporate and Foundation Relations (“Director”) will engage organizations to raise philanthropic funding for campus-wide initiatives. As a member of the University's central development enterprise, the Director will focus on developing new relationships with local, statewide, and national organizations to promote student success and the university's physical operating needs. Operating within approved University and UVU Foundation guidelines and strategy regarding development activities, the Director personally manages an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects and will collaborate with unit-based colleagues to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge

  • Knowledge of and significant direct experience with fundraising procedures, techniques, and the ability to apply this knowledge when creating relationships with corporate and foundation contacts.
  • Strong knowledge of effective web-based search engines and search strategies.
  • Knowledge of academic operations, governance, and culture.



Skills

  • Strong aptitude with standard office productivity software which must include Microsoft Office programs.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to handle information with discretion.
  • Strong strategic planning and critical thinking skills.

Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work with business, philanthropic, and community leaders.
  • Ability to plan effective development strategies for prospective donors.
  • Ability to think conceptually, globally, and understand the comprehensive operation of an institution of higher education.
  • Ability to appropriately represent Institutional Advancement and the interests of their unit. Experience with administration, including methods and techniques for the preparation, analysis, and administration of budgets.
  • Ability to effectively manage records and databases.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Possess a professional outlook and keen sense of accountability and be highly energetic, focused, and outcome-oriented.
  • Ability to freely navigate multiple campus sites and meetings off-campus.


Preferred Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license and the ability or means to travel to meetings at other sites related to the nature of this position.

Physical Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel and to work extended hours as necessary.

Pay Range: $65,427 to $81,784
