Do you love gathering people for high-impact events? Are you a team player who enjoys planning logistics as much as the ultimate event? If this sounds like you, and you know what it takes to make it all look easy, the Shakespeare Theatre Company needs you! The Development Events Manager plans, schedules, budgets, and executes all of STC's donor and fundraising events, including Opening Nights and other membership events throughout the season, as well as three major annual events: the STC Gala, Will on the Hill, and the Mock Trial. In addition to working with cast members and staff across the organization, this position regularly interacts with members of Congress, Supreme Court Justices, Ambassadors, and other VIPs that complement the incredible art on our stages like The Amen Corner, Remember This: The Lesson of Jan Karski, Once Upon a One More Time, Our Town, The Merchant of Venice, Much Ado About Nothing, and Red Velvet. They will work closely with the other eight members of the Development team to maximize event fundraising results and supervise the work of the Development Coordinator, as well as STC staff and volunteers at events. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $55,000.

The ideal candidate combines the ability to plan and carry out memorable events with excellent communication skills and an obsessive attention to detail. They are highly organized, diplomatic, calm under pressure, and able to handle multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously. This exciting opportunity is perfect for someone with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience in Arts/Business Administration/Hospitality, Theatre, etc. with 2 or more years of nonprofit event planning experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required; familiarity with donor engagement practices and experience with Tessitura and event management software preferred. The Development Events Manager must have a current driver’s license, be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods of time, and be available for evening and weekend hours.
