Sr. Grants and Foundation Relations Manager

Program: Development 

Reporting to: Director, Development Operations

Future Direct Report: Development Associate

Full-Time, Exempt

Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000

Location: New York City (Due to current pandemic this role may begin remote)


    Increase funding in the institutional portfolio for the organization; Lead for full grant management cycle, conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to individuals, foundation, and corporate sources:
      Collaborate with staff across the organization to collect supporting documentation; Advise on program design and monitoring and evaluation; Comply with all grant reporting and provide stewardship to current donors;
    Make appointments for President and COO with foundation officers and other prospects, arrange for onsite tours for supporters (foundation officers, foundation trustees); Conduct prospect research on individuals, foundations, and corporations to evaluate alignment and develop solicitation strategies for various stakeholders; Manage the Endowment Campaign for Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. This includes:
      Coordinating meetings with internal and external partners; Solicitation strategy; Tracking campaign goals, etc. 
    Oversee Engagement Plans. This includes:
      Collaborating with the Technical Project Manager to access the latest data. Decision-making informed by data insights; Creation of plans to streamline individual donors and moves; Development of communication plans and supporting materials; Creation of reports
    Maintain current records in the database including grant tracking and reporting. Track statistics relevant to development and provide the department with written materials necessary for donor stewardship (visitor number and diversity, educational program attendance, etc.); Work with finance to ensure they have all supporting documentation needed for auditing purposes, create cost centers, among others; Work with the Director of Development Operations and Communications Department to provide development input for all written institutional materials (including donor solicitations, annual report, member newsletters); Develop, refine & maintain Salesforce reporting functionality;
      Create dashboards, object views, email alerts and other ad hoc reports. Create and manage basic Salesforce records (contacts, organizations and leads). Create and manage Salesforce Campaigns and Opportunities. Create and manage MOVES and email tracking system with the Technical Project Manager Assist with other fundraising projects as requested
    All new staff will undergo an introductory period of three (3) months as a training and learning period; Do your part in keeping our operations running smoothly - tracking your hours and submitting timecards in a timely manner.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

    Provide feedback and guidance for direct reports, including interns, to successfully comprehend and align individual goals with program and organization goals + strategies; Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations for direct reports; Function as an advocate and mentor for all direct reports as needed for professional development, resources, and support; Approve work related expenses and PTO requests for direct reports. 


    At least four years experience with nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, and prospect research; Experience across the donor lifecycle including the successful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donations over $50,000; Experience managing a portfolio of $100k-$1MM in grants/donations; Demonstrated experience with MOVES Management; Awareness and interest in current events and issues relating to human rights around the world; Success streamlining processes involving multiple stakeholders; Working experience on a CRM (Customer Relationship Management), such as Salesforce or similar; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Demonstrated experience working on online platforms such as Zoom and Google Suite; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated research skills suitable for varied audiences; Attention to detail, you’re able to scope out errors and willing to fix mistakes; Time management, you have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once; Flexible, patient, and ability to stay gracious under pressure; High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information; Innovative thinking, willingness to voice your opinions, and a strong work ethic are essential; Teamwork, you are able to build positive relationships with your colleagues and are willing to help others; Inclusive, you’re excited to work with people who have different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives from your own.
