POSITION SUMMARY: 

Successful Food Bankers focus their energies on finding innovative and sustainable ways to serve our neighbors in collaboration and solidarity with our network of partners, members and supporters. 

 

Food Bank’s Manager of Development, Strategic Initiatives plays an integral role in securing and sustaining a successful principal gifts program. Working closely with the Director of Strategic Initiatives, this is a significant behind-the-scenes role focused on identifying, cultivating, closing, and stewarding 7- and 8-figure gifts from our most high capacity, high-visibility prospects and donors.  

 

By utilizing outstanding project management skills, the position will ensure the Food Bank builds a competitive edge in its fundraising efforts through superlative, strategic donor engagement on behalf of the President/CEO, the Chief Development Officer, the Vice President of Strategic Giving, and the Director of Strategic Initiatives.  

 

    

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Under the leadership of the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Manager of Development, Strategic Initiatives will:  

 

  • Perform moves management for transformative partnerships with the Food Bank’s top tier of donors and prospects 
  • Drive the development agenda for Food Bank’s work with high-visibility donors and prospects 
  • Support development initiatives for the Food Bank c-suite and Board of Directors 
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of internal colleagues with the highest level of diplomacy 
  • Analyze large data sets in excel and offer recommendations based on the analysis 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balance various timelines, and drive for results 
  • Balance and advance strategic initiative priorities by utilizing strong project management skills 
  • Draft communications and transformative proposals to high level donors that support strategic organizational fundraising goals 
  • Prepare agendas, dossiers, briefings, profiles, debriefings, and other needed materials for prospect review/moves management meetings with the Senior Leadership Team and Development Committee meetings 
  • Review and analyze large data sets in Microsoft Excel and make recommendations on the analysis 
  • Maintain data integrity by promptly recording actions and notes in the database  
  • Monitor market trends and media sources for relevant information on donors and prospects 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Commitment to the Mission and Values of Food Bank For New York City 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with C-Suite management teams to set, help deliver, and track high-priority strategic goals  
  • Exceptional project management skills 
  • Highly collaborative and with knowledge of fundraising moves management 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Superlative C-Suite customer service skills 
  • Exceedingly diplomatic 
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office – especially Microsoft Excel 
  • Preferred experience with Raiser’s Edge 7, Raiser’s Edge NXT or similar CRM
