Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation prospects for the Annual Fund
  • With the VP for External Affairs, qualifies identified Major Gift and Planned Gift prospects through individual visits and develops a strategy for moving qualified prospects through the donor cycle
  • Develops and maintains a grateful patient identification program that support the Annual Fund, Major Gifts, and Planned Gifts
  • Responsible for operations, content, and events (in-person and remote) necessary to support complex, high-touch annual fund appeals, donor cultivation, and donor stewardship
  • Creates proposals, applications, and other content needed to support Major Gift solicitations
  • Works with D-H Development on integrated development services, including gift processing and acknowledgement, database management, acknowledgement, and record-keeping
  • Staffs the APDMH Senior Leadership Team, Development Committee, and Trustees in their fundraising work
  • With VP for External Affairs, meets and exceeds annual fundraising metrics
  • Works with D-H Development Office to ensure that integrated development functions (which include gift processing, acknowledgements, research and screening, and database management) are timely and appropriate
  • Seeks creative ways to provide necessary resources and infrastructure in a fiscally prudent manner
  • Brings energy, innovation, and creativity in order to build a culture of philanthropy at APDMH
  • Leads by example in terms of APD’s values of kindness, community, partnership, and service
  • Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with APDMH colleagues as well as the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Development Office.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • 8-10 years of work experience, including at least 2-3 years fundraising
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from a variety of sources (including individuals, corporations, and foundations)
  • Professional, well-organized, excellent follow-through, and strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage databases, vendors, and events
  • Experience working in a hospital, academic medical center, university environment, or similar complex environment with multiple organizations and stakeholders
  • Ability to work with and build strong relationships with a wide range of individuals, including donors, patients, providers, Senior Leadership, and Trustees.
