Job Summary: The Director of Parent/Family Giving & Athletic Giving is responsible for the overall management of the parent giving and athletic giving program at Drury University. Working with the EVP, the Director will set and achieve annual program metrics to advance and increase philanthropic resources for the university. The Director will also collaborate closely with frontline fundraisers to oversee parent philanthropic engagement, including creation, implementation, and direct management of the Parents Leadership Council (PLC.) He/she will be responsible for the overall management of the athletics giving program and will achieve annual metrics as set in concert with the EVP and in consultation with the Director of Athletics.



  • Manage an assigned portfolio of approximately 150 parents and Athletics prospects at the major gift level. Identify qualify, cultivate, solicit, close, and steward these prospects.
  • In collaboration with colleagues, plan and manage the successful implementation of parent solicitations, and stewardship programming and events for parents in the Parents Council.
  • Develop, manage, and coordinate the PLC including relevant events and communications.
  • Direct all aspects of parent giving program, including formulating and implementing strategies for short- and long-term fundraising outcomes, devising performance metrics, and closely coordinating parent engagement with senior university and Office of Advancement leadership as well as frontline fundraising staff.
  • Conduct personal visits, peer-to-peer solicitations, direct marketing (email, phone, mail, events, and marketing materials) to secure new, retain, and upgrade Parents Council gifts.
  • Refine and support the Parents Council program and its members, including recruiting Council members and directing their volunteer efforts in peer solicitations and stewardship outreach activities to other parents.
  • Work in conjunction with Admissions and Student Affairs for key events.
  • Actively participate in pertinent activities such as Move In, Family Weekend, and Commencement activities.
  • Develop engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for former student-athletes.
  • Responsible for all fundraising activities for Varsity sport specific campaigns and annual fund goals.
  • Work with coaches and programs to plan and execute fundraising strategy.
  • Participates in the strategic planning for Division of Athletics as it relates to major gift fundraising.
  • Provides direction to execute events designed to increase giving and generate revenue working with specific sports on solicitation appeals.
  • Responsible for effective management and engagement of athletic support group volunteers. 


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success in face-to-face fundraising of Annual Giving and Major Gifts.
  • Experience curating and executing high-quality, strategic events for small, medium, and large audiences.

Education and Experience: Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred. Must have a minimum of three years of professional fundraising experience


Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervises student staff members.
