For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (FPS) seeks a leader as Chief Development Officer to join a dynamic organization that has considerable ambition to grow to make an even greater impact with cancer patients and their families.

FPS’s mission is to enable cancer patients and their loved ones to strengthen, deepen, and unify their relationships by creating unforgettable and lasting respite experiences. Founded over 20 years ago, FPS currently has a committed 15-person staff and an engaged Board and offers the Travel Respite Program, Staycation Respite Program, and Support Beyond The Respite.

To make a greater impact, FPS has developed an ambitious strategic plan known as Vision 2030. In addition to continuing to optimize financial stewardship and operational and program excellence, the organization wants to expand its mission and to raise over $15 million to construct a dedicated FPS respite center, the first of its kind in the United States, focused exclusively on the patient, caregiver, and immediate family. The organization has conducted a formal feasibility study and laid the groundwork for the capital campaign. This is a bold and inspiring vision that requires an equally ambitious individual who has a proven track record of fundraising. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, a dynamic and charismatic leader and the founder of the organization, the Chief Development Officer will oversee and manage all giving, including annual, major and leadership giving; planned giving; corporate and foundation giving; and the capital campaign during a critical time in FPS’s history. The CDO will manage a team of four people that includes the Director of the Capital Campaign/Philanthropy Officer (who will have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the CEO); Corporate Strategic Officer (vacant and to be filled by the CDO); Planned Giving Officer (vacant and to be filled by the CDO); and Community Engagement Associate. The six-year operating plan outlines a significant amount of growth in fundraising with staff increasing up to 15 individuals with regional development satellites.

The most compelling candidates will have proven major gift fundraising expertise, be entrepreneurial and creative, embrace FPS’s mission, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be analytical, and most importantly a leader with energy and passion.

Interested individuals should contact Andrew C. Wheeler, Founder & President, Lincoln Leadership, at awheeler@lincolnleadership.co.
