Responsibilities

Assists with administering, accounting, & reporting all investments in the long & short-term portfolios; maintaining complex processes to account for the investments, distribute to participants, calculate performance & provide financial statements information & footnotes; monitoring compliance to adopted policies; performing rigorous ongoing due diligence processes on investment managers to achieve an unqualified opinion in the annual audit.

Performs administration, accounting, and reporting all irrevocable planned giving investment vehicles, including those invested by the Foundations trust administrator and those invested with outside trustees; maintain complex processes to account for all irrevocable planned gifts and its applicable investments, calculate performance and prepare financial statement information; assist with monitoring compliance to adopted policies.

Assist with monitoring and resolving issues with specialized providers; assist with reviewing investment manager contracts and other legal documents in order to establish new investment relationships; collaborate with custodian to fund new managers and set up new accounts with the custodian bank; staff Foundation Investment Committee meetings and transcribe the meeting minutes; work with consultant to provide information to the Foundation’s Investment Committee and to execute Investment Committee decisions.  

Assist with monitoring daily cash flow (receipts & disbursements) within the Foundation’s bank accounts to meet the cash liquidity needs of the Foundation and decide on whether to liquate from or contribute to our short-term investments depending on banks daily cash position. Execute wire transfers to short-term pool managers and other vendors as needed.

Assist with developing annual revenue budget projections for funding the Foundation Operations; assist with revenue modeling and projecting to recommend alternative funding sources under various assumptions and scenarios; assist with supporting and providing requested information and reports to members of Foundation Investment Committee, auditors, professional organizations, donors, University departmental representatives, Foundation staff, and specialized service providers; complete annual Cambridge and NACUBO surveys; complete annual CGA registration with the State of Florida.

Train investment intern on valuation of gifts of marketable securities. Oversee the calculation of the gift value of all donated marketable securities by the investment intern. After receiving the proceeds from the sale of marketable securities, oversee the calculation of the realized gain/loss on sale of marketable securities and notification of appropriate Foundation departments and provide information for them to accurately record the donors gift and proceeds received from the gift. Train investment intern on creating daily SBA journal entries, annual audit progressions, and NACUBO reports.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.

Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to meet project deadlines.

Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.

Ability to compile, review and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles and practices.

Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to fiscal and accounting activities.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

 

Preferred

Experience in a governmental or non-profit business environment.

Experience interpreting and applying related federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Experience with accounting for investments.
