Summary:

The Coordinator, Major and Midlevel Giving participates in all aspects of the Development Department's major and midlevel giving programs. This position is responsible for administrative and other support of the team's efforts to acquire, cultivate, steward, and solicit major and midlevel prospects and donors to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). 

Primary Job Functions:

  • Conducts accurate donor database record maintenance including address and name changes, revenue adjustments, donor moves management, accurate donor relationships connections, etc.;
  • Inputs moves management data, including, but not limited to contact reports, individual strategies, donor/prospect interactions, and philanthropic interests into CRM;
  • Working with the research team, conducts research for contact and other information on donors and prospects and performs address research for returned mail & updates donor records in CRM;
  • Working with the data operations and systems team, create and report out as requested analytical reports on including, but not limited to revenue, development metrics, and KPIs;
  • Research gifts of $1,000 received from individuals, corporations, foundations, financial advisors and institutions using databases, internet search engines, office files, and other resource and make revenue adjustment as needed;
  • Working with the event coordinator, assists with all aspects of online and virtual donor meetings;
  • Track all incoming paperwork associated with donor gifts and schedule all reports requested in connection to donor gifts received, including managing the year-round calendar of proposal and progress report deadlines;
  • Send acknowledgment letters to major donors and prospects when requested by the donor; 
  • Organizes major donor team meetings and strategy sessions including creating agendas, scheduling invites, attending and producing precise notes and action item lists and the distribution of notes to team members;
  • Trains and supports fundraisers on development tools, processes and procedures including the use of CRM and other platforms;
  • Enters annual matching gift responses;
  • Crosstrain with other department members and assist as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications –

Education and Related Work Experience:

  • Three years of experience in administrative, customer service support, or other fields requiring exceptional communication skills, and project management;
  • Database entry and record management; and
  • High school diploma or GED.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with proven ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands and prioritize several projects at once;
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be detail oriented;
  • Must have strong communication skills;
  • Must be flexible and able to change course when required;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop strong working relationships across teams;
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of donor and SPLC information;
  • The ability to work independently and/or with a team;
  • Commitment to ideals of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion; and
  • Commitment to fostering an anti-racist work culture and to anti-racist principles and learning.

Other Special Considerations:

This job is performed under general office conditions, and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.

Due to COVID-19, our offices are currently closed and staff is working remotely.  If this position is filled while our offices remain closed, the new employee will work remotely until the offices reopen.  We are not asking newly hired employees to relocate while the offices are closed.
