Cathedral High School (CHS) is an all-girls college preparatory school located in Midtown Manhattan. Established in 1905, CHS is committed to providing its student body of 492 with an exceptional education.


CHS focuses on rigorous academic preparation for young women of all faiths, especially those whose families might otherwise be unable to afford a private education. CHS uplifts, empowers, and prepares young women to become productive members of the workforce and society. Today, CHS continues to educate students from diverse backgrounds to grow in a community of faith and develop into confident, independent, and responsible citizens. Of CHS’s diverse student body, which represents more than 72 countries, 56% of students are Hispanic and 28% are African American. CHS consistently graduates 100% of its students – compared to the current NYC public school graduation rate of 78.8% – and assists students in securing $27 million annually in college scholarships.


CHS seeks an inspirational and visionary leader to serve as its inaugural President. The successful candidate will position CHS as a destination school and a long-term leader in the evolving ecosystem of public, specialized, religious, charter, and private schools. The inaugural President will partner with the Board of Trustees and Principal to create and lead the execution of short- and long-term strategic and operational plans with a focus on fundraising and enrollment management. To lead the positioning of CHS as a destination school, the President will ensure the continued growth of excellence while assuring its long-term financial strength and resilience as it continues to serve and support its diverse student population.


S/he will have strategic oversight and manage all non-academic operations. To ensure CHS can meet its commitments to students, the President will lead and expand a comprehensive development office. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain a diverse and sustainable portfolio of prospects, including the creation and execution of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. The successful President will develop and further refine compelling and articulate fundraising materials, proposals, and presentations that most effectively communicate the impact of CHS’s work.


The President will possess superior interpersonal and communications skills and a sharpened sense of intellectual curiosity and inspired vision. The candidate will provide inspirational leadership to ensure CHS’s day-to-day non-academic operations and long-range plans are administered in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.


The President will report to the Board of Trustees, serve on CHS’s Management Team, and work collaboratively with the Principal and Chief Financial Officer. S/he will have oversight of development, finance, enrollment, and non-academic operations. The President will lead and motivate a highly effective and collaborative team of 23 staff and administrative professionals.
