The Deputy Director of Development is a key role with broad responsibilities across the organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position requires an experienced professional who has a passion for fundraising and for African conservation, is organized, has excellent writing and communication skills, and is able to juggle a variety of responsibilities. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize projects, work under pressure, and enjoys helping to support a team positioning itself for growth. Paramount to this position is the ability to work with a high degree of independence, and to manage various projects at once, while maintaining a clear view of the foundation’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and implementing engagement and stewardship strategies for individuals with a focus on gifts at the $5K plus level with a goal to enhance and grow revenue from current and prospective donors.
- Manage a small portfolio of individual supporters at the $5,000 + level to ensure regular touchpoints and on-going stewardship.
- Analyze prospect lists and help to identify new private funding opportunities
- Produce major donor communications, including major gift proposals, reports, and customized communications for donors and prospects.
- Write donor acknowledgement and stewardship letters and oversee the donor acknowledgement process to ensure timely and efficient follow-up.
- Oversee database management and reporting.
- Provide support for event logistics and donor stewardship efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in Fundraising
- Excellent writing and personal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to move individuals through personal cultivation
- Strong commitment to mission of African Parks
- Teamwork and transparency
Communications & Marketing experience desirable
New York-based with ability to come to NY office
Experience with CRM systems
