Position Summary:
Villanova University has reached new heights following the most successful comprehensive capital campaign in its history, raising over $760M and changing the University's culture of philanthropy. The Office of University Advancement is seeking a talented and energetic Development Officer for New York to join our highly collaborative, motivated team as we work on behalf of the nation's premier Augustinian Catholic university.

Reporting to the Director of Major Giving for New York, the Development Officer serves as a front-line fundraiser and member of the University's New York-based fundraising team and is responsible for establishing and managing effective relationships with varied donor prospects and existing donors.

The Development Officer will identify and qualify potential donors, and design and implement successful cultivation and solicitation strategies. The Development Officer will solicit prospects and identify and motivate those alumni, faculty, volunteers, and friends who can advance the development function at the University. The Development Officer is expected to conduct 16-20 prospect visits per month and manage a portfolio of 150-175 prospects with a gift capacity of $10,000 to $99,999 (primarily $50,000+).

In addition to the incumbent's role as a University-wide Development Officer, this position will assist the Director in enhancing the successful fundraising program in New York within the context of Villanova University's overall fundraising efforts. The Development Officer will assist in the coordination of all formal stewardship activities for prospects in the New York region, in conjunction with regional officers and the University's stewardship team. The incumbent will also support prospect engagement and involvement efforts related to cultivation and fundraising events in New York. The incumbent will also coordinate some administrative activities for the New York team. By identifying and qualifying prospective donors and cultivating relationship, the Development Officer will expand and strengthen Villanova's major gift pipeline in the Tristate region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identify and manage a portfolio of 150-175 prospects. Establish and manage effective relationships with portfolio prospects and donors; conduct 16-20 prospect visits monthly and assume stewardship responsibilities for assigned prospects.
• Plan and implement prospect cultivation and solicitation strategies using work and stewardship plans; identify and evaluate potential donors from available research, peer screenings, and event participation.
• Support prospect engagement and involvement efforts for University-wide events and programs taking place in New York. e a point of contact for New York-based constituents to engage in the life of the University; encourage participation in activities and evaluate potential for development involvement.
• Oversee prospect stewardship contacts and activities for all New York prospects and donors together with University stewardship team and other Advancement colleagues.
• Provide administrative support for New York-based advancement efforts.
• Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree required
• 3+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector (or a transferable field) with a minimum of 1 year as a front-line fundraiser/client services representative preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of individual fundraising required, preferably in the field of higher education and/or within the New York philanthropic community.
• Commitment to the principles behind higher education and a strong desire to associate with Villanova University and champion its mission expected.
• Understanding of the University culture and ability to work within a multi-layered management system required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills required.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented.
• The incumbent must be comfortable working in a team oriented environment, as well as a disciplined self-starter who is results-oriented.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Regular travel to the Philadelphia-area expected. Occasional evening and weekend work and travel required.
