The Field is growing and transforming! We are looking for a passionate, dynamic, and service-minded new team member to participate in and support this growth.

Founded by artists for artists 35 years ago, The Field is a leading nonprofit arts service organization dedicated to providing strategic services to thousands of performing and media artists and companies in New York City and beyond. Our historic charge has been to serve artists and their art-making, all the while challenging systemic problems in the arts sector. With accessibility and social justice at our core, our dedicated staff fosters creative development (through residencies, space programs, peer-to-peer creative feedback salons, and more), and stewards innovative management strategies (with fiscal sponsorship, career consultations, entrepreneurial workshops, leadership training, and more). We are determined to help a plurality of artists reach their fullest potential by providing responsive, friendly, and personalized service.

To put it simply, we believe that The Field is a great place to work. Our “by artists for artists” ethos has cultivated a staff of creative, hard-working and smart, culture (and food)-loving people. It is also important to note that The Field is transitioning from an organization with an emerging practice in social justice to an organization with embedded and intentional practices and processes in diversity, equity, and inclusion as evidenced by our thought leadership, programming and collaborations. The Field has operationalized practices and policies that support these values and we consistently invest in our education and professional development particularly regarding racial justice. We are learning and growing all the time. People of color, immigrants, women/femmes, LGBTQIA folx, and members of other historically undervalued groups are especially welcome and encouraged to apply.

We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to support our Development activities, particularly around donor cultivation, donor stewardship, research, special events management, public and private grant proposals and reports, institutional reports and fundraising appeals. The Senior Development Associate will join The Field’s small-but-mighty Staff of 8, reporting to the Institutional/Investor Relationship Manager, and working closely with our grant-writer and The Field’s staff, in particular our Communications and Programs and Services teams.

This new position will provide support around all areas of The Field’s annual fundraising efforts. As The Field grows, the Senior Development Associate will have many opportunities to develop and implement fundraising strategies, to build leadership skills, and to learn about different approaches to building contributed revenue. Particular areas of planned growth in 2022 include government affairs, special events, major donor cultivation, Board development, and planning for a major fundraising campaign.

Work with the Development team to plan an annual calendar of Donor cultivation events and special fundraising events

Manage donor acknowledgement work-flow and materials

Manage and track grant and gift processing, and ensure accurate data and database management

Work with the Development team to ensure complete and accurate internal fundraising files (Institutional, Individual, and other)

Conduct regular reconciliations of fundraising financial records with The Field’s finance department.

Support the development and submission of Institutional giving proposals, reports, and grant requirements
