Position Summary – Associate Director, Patient
Founded in 2015 by Drs. Daniel F. Kelly (neurosurgeon), Chester
F. Griffiths (otolaryngologist – ENT), Howard R. Krauss
(neuro-ophthalmologist) and Santosh Kesari (neuro-oncologist),
Pacific Neuroscience Institute (PNI) ® provides precision
leading-edge care for patients with a wide spectrum of neurological
and cranial disorders including:
and malignant brain and skull base tumors
Pituitary tumors and related hormonal disorders
Stroke and other neurovascular diseases
hearing, swallowing and sinus disorders

With 37 physicians and 12 medical and surgical subspecialties
represented including neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-oncology,
neuro-ophthalmology, neuro-psychology, psychiatry, endocrinology,
ENT (otolaryngology), interventional neuroradiology, radiation
oncology, neuro-anesthesia and neuropathology, the PNI
team provides a truly collaborative and comprehensive
diagnostic and treatment approach for each patient. PNI’s goal is
to rapidly and accurately understand the patient’s condition and
provide focused minimally invasive and maximally effective care to
help restore quality of life. PNI Medical Group is based at
Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica and
Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance.
Through support by the PNI
Foundation and Saint
John’s Health Center Foundation, and in collaboration with
John’s Cancer Institute, PNI is striving to change the standard
of care for patients with neuroscience conditions and advance brain
health and wellness through translational research and clinical
trials, provide fellowship training, as well as offer neuroscience
education to patients and the community.
Pacific Neuroscience Institute is devoted to i) providing
personalized, precision multidisciplinary patient care, ii)
advancing the neurosciences and promoting brain health through
novel research and innovative clinical trials, iii) training the
next generation of clinician and research neuroscientists, and iv)
educating patients and the community at large on vital neuroscience
About PNI Foundation
The PNI Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization whose
purpose is to facilitate the research, teaching and education
mission of PNI ™ and its faculty. It serves as the primary conduit
to providing education and awareness of the research and services
of the PNIMG faculty, as well as fundraising from a variety of
sources – philanthropy, corporate support, industry, and federal
and non-federal grants. The PNI Foundation team works
collaboratively with SJHC Foundation, who fundraises from
individuals and foundations on PNI Foundation’s behalf. PNI
Foundation support extends across multiple areas of need
including fueling innovative, translational and clinical research
trials support, peer-reviewed publications,
database infrastructure, neuroanatomical skills
training, faculty recruitment, patient education and community
Under the direction of the Vice President of the PNI Foundation,
the Associate Director, Patient Engagement will develop, manage and
lead efforts in provider and grateful patient engagement, prospect
identification and referrals to the major gifts team at SJHC
Foundation. In addition, the Associate Director will function as a
member of the Marketing and Communications team by evaluating and
providing valuable insight on the patient experience.
· Bachelor’s degree or higher required
· Minimum of five (5) years fundraising
· Demonstrated success, thorough knowledge, and
understanding of healthcare fundraising
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

fundraising team to onboard priority clinical departments and
physicians as part of the Grateful Patient Program.
· Work with
development officers to identify and qualify new major gift
prospects utilizing Prysm.
· Build and maintain
relationships with PNI physicians, advanced practice providers and

to identify clinical/research initiatives and funding priorities to
better communicate with grateful patients through in person
