As the Donor Relations Director for the 50-year-old nonprofit Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters in Prescott AZ, you will implement our current giving plan with a chance to add your own flair, under the direct supervision of the agency’s Executive Director, with input from our Board of Directors. As the #1 mentoring agency in Yavapai County, Arizona, we live our mission and will walk beside you on this team journey, providing you with the tools to succeed, including a solid strategic plan, seminars and classes to grow in your field and opportunities to be mentored by skilled, local nonprofit and business leaders. This is a full-time, benefited position and you must live in Yavapai County or be willing to relocate. Salary is negotiable, depending on experience.

The county is growing rapidly and you’ll be responsible for identifying, contacting and stewarding new prospects moving into the area, as well as managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift prospects. It is key that you possess the ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our mission of providing mentoring that is professional, intentional and meaningful.

You will also:

  • Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization
  • Secure major gifts from $5,000 to $150,000+
  • Manage our Donor Perfect database to track and cultivate donors and prospects
  • Works closely, and collegially, with other leadership team members to align efforts and set goals
  • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation efforts
  • Acknowledge major donors through recognition methods
  • Track and report progress using specific metrics
  • Represent the agency at public speaking engagements, interviews and events

You could be the best match for this position if:

  • You’re a real people person with an outgoing personality and you work best in a team atmosphere. You’re a self-starter and are driven by results.
  • You understand the immense value in mentoring for all ages and career stages. You are never too old to learn.
  • You have at least three years of nonprofit fundraising experience and have shown an ability to secure individual and major gifts and meet objectives. You make donors feel valued because you understand their needs.
  • You know how to make and keep friends. You know how to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout our organization and with our community.
  • You have honed your writing and speaking skills and can use them to compel people into action.
  • You don’t spend a lot of time in the weeds, but you know donors and your team members expect you to be detail-oriented and to follow through on your promises.
