Manager, Foundation Accounting - Financial Services

Job Summary:

The Manager of Foundation Accounting will be directly responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the 12 RWJBarnabas Health foundations.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and analyze foundation financial statements on a monthly basis
  • Oversee the general accounting for the twelve foundations, including review and approval of all foundation journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Review all pledges to determine proper revenue recognition, and calculate and evaluate the discount and bad debt reserves for all new and outstanding pledges
  • Manage external audit process for the foundations, including preparation of footnotes and accounting whitepapers
  • Ensure system-wide compliance with standardized RWJBH reporting policies, IRS, and State of New Jersey
  • Timely preparation of various regulatory and tax filings for the foundations
  • Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of foundations, and analysis of budget to actual reporting
  • Present financial results at board meetings of the foundations
  • Maintain the foundation sub ledger, Financial Edge, and ensure alignment with the PeopleSoft general ledger
  • Manage the integration of all new foundation requirements into Financial Edge and/or the PeopleSoft general ledger
  • Liaises with legal department and foundation executives on various matters
  • Coordinate with Hospital finance departments related to funding of programs, capital and non-capital projects, review requests for foundation funded capital
  • Supervise and develop the foundation accounting team

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred with 5-7 years of combined Public Accounting and Private-Industry accounting experience within a health care environment
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting and foundation accounting
  • Detail oriented with the self-initiative to drive projects to conclusion
  • Excellent time management and organization skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and keep the Controller updated on progress
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all organization levels, including internal/external management
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with operating personnel who have varying levels of business acumen and financial literacy
  • At least 2 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
