The Opportunity
The Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools (FVPS) is an independent, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation established in 1988 to support students across all 37 schools in the Vancouver Public Schools (the District) through generous donations from school employees, parents, students, community members and businesses. FVPS and the District partner closely to ensure students and families have basic needs, health and social service referrals, enrichment activities and family engagement opportunities, and other resources through on-site and mobile Family Community Resource Centers.
FVPS seeks a highly motivated, full-time Executive Director (ED) who will serve as the public face of the Foundation, as a strategic partner with the Foundation’s board of directors and the District’s senior leadership, and as the Foundation’s principal fundraiser. Supported by a team of 4 (2.4 FTE), the ED is also responsible for the Foundation’s day-to-day activities and operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work with dedicated Board, staff, and district leadership to propel the Foundation forward to the next level, while helping ensure Vancouver Public School students are prepared, confident and excited to learn.

Key Knowledge and Skills
Ability to set an inspiring vision and provide motivating leadership for the Board and staff of the FVPS and the District ● Intercultural competence, ability to work with sensitivity and effectiveness with peoples of diverse backgrounds and identities; demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion for all ● Knowledge of the organization and structure of public schools ● Knowledge of, and experience with full range of development programs including major gifts and planned gifts ● Excellent written and oral communication skills ● Financial acumen necessary to successfully lead an organization the size of the FVPS ● Intermediate to advanced Excel, donor database, Google Docs/Sheets, and other web-based applications as appropriate to job duties; ability to learn as digital tools evolve ● Flexibility for occasional evening/weekend hours ● Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen ● Vaccination and masking will follow state, local and District requirements.
