The Job Plugs is proud to partner with Restaurant Opportunities Center United (ROC United) to search for an Associate Director of Institutional Giving. ROC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve wages and working conditions for the nation’s restaurant workforce. The restaurant industry in the United States employs more than 9 percent of the total private-sector workforce (over 13 million people). Building the restaurant workforce’s power and leadership and providing training and professional development opportunities are at the core of our mission.

Founded after September 11, 2001, as a worker relief center for affected restaurant workers in New York City, ROC has grown into a national organization powered by local chapters. ABOUT THE POSITION: 

ROC United’s institutional portfolio includes national funders, private foundations at the state/local level, and publicly-funded grantmaking entities. Currently generating more than $5M in annual and multi-year commitments, ROC’s Institutional program -- part of the Development Department -- is a vital engine, generating revenue and driving growth to meet the organization’s strategic goals.

The Associate Director (AD) reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and collaborates closely with local chapter leads and colleagues across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Associate Director will develop and implement an annual plan for reaching dollar and donor goals. They will also collaborate with colleagues on the development team and across the organization to advance ROC’s mission.

 The Associate Director must be an excellent writer and communicator, adept at coordinating multiple internal and external stakeholders to fundraise for and steward ongoing programming and special projects and initiatives. This position requires proven experience in grant and report writing and understanding program design, budgeting, and project management. The AD role is 100% remote. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grow financial support by building relationships with and soliciting donations from institutional funders, prioritizing securing grants from foundations that give
  • Help implement an effective renewal and “moves management” process for institutional
  • Conduct prospect research and identify new
  • Research, identify and cultivate new prospective donors to meet revenue targets;
  • Increase ROC’s fundraising capacity by coaching, guiding, and partnering with chapter leads through all stages of the donor cycle;
  • Create chapter-related letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets, reports, project updates, and other related materials as needed to deepen and expand prospect/donor engagement;
  • Steward a portfolio of current institutional funders by maintaining and tracking grant deliverables, drafting and submitting timely and accurate reports, and preparing compelling proposals for renewed support;
  • Participate in short- and long-term strategic planning to meet fundraising goals;
  • Maintain precise donor information in the CRM database on a timely basis; and

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3-4 years of substantial fundraising experience required
  • Preference will be given to candidates familiar with grant budgets and experience working with finance and program teams to develop budgets accompanying grant proposals and
  • Demonstrated record of successful donor solicitation across the institutional giving spectrum
  • Experience partnering with chapter/affiliate staff, collaborating with them in service of fundraising goals
  • Must have experience using a fundraising database system, g., EveryAction, Salesforce, Raisers’ Edge
  • Familiarity with foundations that prioritize funding non-profits in southern states is preferred but not
  • Positive attitude and desire to learn and grow as part of a team
  • Must possess excellent writing skills with extraordinary attention to detail, time management skills, and critical thinking
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with a demonstrated track record of establishing effective systems that foster collaboration and improve efficiency
  • Commitment to transparency, accountability, and direct communication
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines
