Director of Development

Founded in 1978, Three Rivers Legal Services is establishing its first Development Office. The Director of Development Operations is responsible for the direction and implementation of all fundraising operations. Duties include the establishment of an annual fund and the pursuit of major gifts for special projects. The Director of Development Operations reports directly to the Executive Director of Three Rivers Legal Services.

Specific Tasks:

Annual Fund

  • Solicitation -
    • Create and implement plans for an annual fund to supplement unrestricted operating dollars.
    • Research and write all annual appeals copy for both direct mail and digital funding streams.
  • Administration -
    • Produce, update, forecast, and evaluate a written, “calendared” schedule of annual fundraising campaigns and
    • Year over year, proactively direct, maintain, strengthen and increase annual giving revenue and participation
  • Record Keeping -
    • Oversee donor acknowledgments, cultivation, retention, and
    • Oversee input of data to the Development database (e.g. gifts and recognition) to ensure accuracy of data entry and
    • Develop office policy and procedure to ensure security and confidentiality of donor
    • Observe professional reporting, contacting, and information-sharing chain-of-command
    • Establish and monitor an annual development operations budget, and provide quarterly and annual reports of the same to the Executive

Major Gift Solicitation

  • From time to time, in consultation with the Executive Director, determine specific special needs that require major gift
  • Identify and rank prospective major gift donors; code in
  • Develop solicitation strategies for in-person visitation and solicitation of major gift
  • Solicit major gifts, primarily in-person or in small
  • Nurture ongoing relationships with major gift

Qualifications

  • Non-profit organizational, managerial, and fund development knowledge and
  • Familiarity with development/donor tracking software programs/platforms.
  • Excellent writing and speaking
  • A heartfelt commitment to the mission of Three Rivers Legal

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in development operations for an established non-profit
  • Demonstrated experience with in-person solicitation of major

Education

  • B.A.

Working conditions

  • Work indoors. Weekend and some evening work

Salary Range

$73,747 - $83,747 DOE
