Northeastern Illinois University, located in Chicago, Illinois, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Associate Director of Annual Giving.

The Associate Director of Annual Giving reports to the Director of Development, and will serve as a major fundraising officer in the department. The Associate Director will work with faculty, staff, volunteers and senior administration to develop, lead, and enhance multichannel annual giving strategies, including but not limited to: a focus on new avenues for increasing donor participation, engaging new and younger donors through e-campaigns, and increasing average gift amounts. The Associate Director will collaborate with Institutional Advancement staff to develop and execute avenues for online giving acquisition, particularly through digital channels including social media and e-campaigns.

Full-Time, Continuing Position

Position Responsibilities: The Associate Director of Development will develop, lead, and enhance multichannel annual giving strategies, including but not limited to: a focus on new avenues for increasing donor participation, engaging new and younger donors through e-campaigns, and increasing average gift amounts.

The Associate Director will collaborate with Institutional Advancement staff to develop and execute avenues for online giving acquisition, particularly through digital channels including social media and e-campaigns. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in fundraising within the context of higher education and for candidates who hold an advanced degree and / or fundraising certification with organizations such as the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, the Lilly School of Philanthropy and Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Other critical responsibilities for the Associate Director of Annual Giving include: drives commitments to completion on time and with quality.

  • Plan, develop and execute a strategic plan of action, with objectives, timelines and evaluation plans, for the University's annual giving program, which will include identification, cultivation and solicitation of annual gifts from alumni, friends, faculty and staff;
  • Design and conduct mass solicitation programs via direct mail, student caller programs, and online giving, ensuring that gifts of this nature are renewed;
  • Implement monthly giving and mid-level donor programs in coordination with the Manager of Donor Engagement and •Events, to ensure donors are properly recognized;
  • Oversee the faculty and staff annual fundraising campaign, identifying, recruiting, soliciting and training employee volunteers, working with the Director of Development and NEIU's Marketing and Communications staff to craft a university-wide communication plan about the campaign and providing timely updates and recognition to university employees.
  • Plan and manage crowdfunding campaigns, especially for Giving Tuesday and the University's annual spring day of giving, including special project selection and content gathering, campaign strategy, and training;
  • Implement monthly giving and mid-level donor programs in coordination with the Director of Development and Manager of Donor Engagement and Events
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of major and annual giving prospects with no less than 50 prospects with a gift range of $1,000 to $5,000;
  • Develop, implement and manage a stewardship program in concert with the Manager of Donor Engagement and Events directed at upgrading individual donors;
  • Develop and implement a plan of reporting annual giving needs, progress and impact to the university and external constituents, in the context of the University's strategic plan. Serve as an advocate for NEIU annual giving programs to staff, faculty and potential donors. Ensure the timely and consistent production of monthly and year-to-date reports.
  • Work with Advancement Services and the Manager of Donor Engagement and Events to foster the growth of best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing, data management and donor relations as related to annual giving and the Foundation;
  • Remain current on annual giving trends and strategies, including social media and other digital fundraising tactics;
  • Collaborate on annual fundraising and stewardship events;
  • Other project management and Associate Director duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education; a minimum of four years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably including management of annual fund programs, special events, stewardship programs and individual giving programs, preferably in higher education (or a comparably complex organization); knowledge of the fundraising cycle; ability to manage multiple projects in a complex environment; knowledge of constituent relations software with preference for Raiser's Edge.
