Northeastern Illinois University, located in Chicago, Illinois, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Manager of Donor Engagement and Events.

The Manager of Donor Engagement and Events is Institutional Advancement's chief stewardship officer, chief events manager and a member of the Development team. The Manager will provide strategic stewardship, event planning and recognition support for the Offices of Development and Alumni Relations in order to cultivate meaningful, lifelong relationships with Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) donors and to ensure excellent donor experiences.

Full-Time, Continuing Position

Position Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Development team, the Manager will plan, coordinate and execute all fundraising and philanthropic events including but not limited to large-scale fundraisers such as the annual gala, recognition activities for high-level giving societies, campaign kick-off / closing events, and more.

The Manager will oversee and execute personalized gift acknowledgements on a weekly basis, including coordination of stewardship communications to be completed by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and University President. The Manager will also coordinate weekly communications with external stakeholders and messages shared on the NEIU Foundation's social media channels. On an annual basis, the Manager will work with Advancement colleagues to coordinate endowment reports to donors and content for the President's Report. Finally, the Manager will provide unit-specific consultation, upon request, for University units pursuing special fundraising projects.

This role reports to the Director of Development and works closely with the Associate Director of Annual Giving and the Office Administrator. The Manager has a dotted reporting line to the Director of Alumni Relations.

Other critical responsibilities for the Manager of Donor Engagement and Events include:

  • Establishing a schedule of and budget for events and goals / objectives that recognize and steward donors, increase fundraising, and/or increase engagement with Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU).
  • Managing a work study student(s) and leading planning with Institutional Advancement staff, ensuring that all aspects of events are coordinated and implemented in accordance with Institutional Advancement's expectations and are delivered on-schedule. Events and activities include but are not limited to:
  • Golden Gala & Alumni Awards Dinner
  • Annual stewardship activities and giving society events / communications for: President's Circle, Founder's Society, annual donors of $1,000+, Faculty / Staff / Retiree donors, and Alumni Membership recognition events
  • Chuck Kane Scholarship Golf Outing (August)
  • Giving Tuesday virtual day of giving (Nov / Dec)
  • Proud to be NEIU virtual day of giving (April)
  • Scholar / Donor Event (April)
  • Daniel L. Goodwin Distinguished Lectureship (Fall and Spring)
  • President's Holiday Party Invitations to constituents (October/ November)
  • Fireside Chats with University Leadership (periodic throughout academic year)
  • Providing highly orchestrated support for fundraising, donor engagement and stewardship activities, and manages logistics for internal stakeholders, including:
  • Coordination of design, promotion and communication materials
  • Identification of and pre-event preparation for appropriate speakers / presenters for each engagement activity; Drafting and distributing appropriate remarks for individuals presenting in collaboration with Development, Alumni Relations, the VP for Institutional Advancement, and President's Chief of Staff;
  • Managing RSVP lists and communicate attendance with appropriate internal leadership;
  • Providing leadership in execution of all event logistics.
  • Developing, overseeing, and implementing timely, accurate, and specific gift acknowledgement communications from Development staff, the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and University President; In collaboration with Institutional Advancement colleagues, the position coordinates other personalized stewardship outreach with NEIU Foundation Board members and the University President;
  • Managing regular stakeholder communications for NEIU Foundation and Institutional Advancement-related news and activities, including social media outreach, bi-weekly "New @ NEIU" e-newsletter and the annual In Common alumni magazine in digital and print communications;
  • Managing coordination of donor-specific impact reports and communications, including annual endowment reports and Presidential communications such as the Annual Report and holiday mailings;
  • Developing and fostering growth of best practices in donor relations, stewardship and events via professional development and continuing education.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education; a minimum of four years of experience in development/fundraising, especially with donor stewardship, event planning, marketing and communications; experience preferably in higher education (or a comparably complex organization); knowledge of the fundraising cycle; ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a complex environment using strong planning and organizational skills; knowledge of constituent relations software with preference for Raiser's Edge; ability to work effectively with staff, faculty, students, volunteers, and senior administration; Project coordination / management experience a plus.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
