Position Summary

Responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the Des Moines Art Center’s data systems, including Tessitura and ArtifaxEvent. Involved in the strategic planning and development of data systems, as well as troubleshooting issues on behalf of the users. Acts as the connection managing the relationships between data system use and internal departments. Leads training and expansion of all Tessitura/ArtifaxEvent activities through the Art Center. Develops and executes tracking and processing of all admission and event sales. Provide reports and other data analyses to aid in data-based decision making across the organization as needed.


Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Director of Finance and Operations and has frequent contact with peers in marketing, education, visitor experience, and the museum shop.
Regular participation with internal teams including the Tessitura project team, Artifax project team, and other system project team meetings. Participates with other team meetings as necessary.


Essential Functions
 Provide technical leadership to enhance business practices.
 Maintain advanced knowledge of Tessitura CRM database and ArtifaxEvent and lead implementation of support activities to ensure effective use of data systems by all departments
 Develop, implement, and monitor business processes that effectively and efficiently utilize the systems.
 Utilize SQL to increase reporting capabilities and troubleshoot issues
 Responsible for data hygiene and constituent record management
 Provide training, troubleshooting, expertise, and technical support to end-users on Tessitura and ArtifaxEvent and back-up support for other computer issues; identify, research, and resolve technical problems, and work with outside vendors/technical support as needed.
 Collect, report, and disseminate daily museum attendance and other key performance data across the museum.
 Analyze, forecast, and present data in a meaningful and understandable way
 Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for database functions.
 Ensure compliance with database best practices and PCI DSS.
 Determine and assign appropriate levels of user access to database functions
 Work with Systems Administrator to maintain proper hardware, software, cloud-based services, and user access.

 Adheres to Des Moines Art Center Code of Ethics, Employee Handbook and other organizational policies.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 Minimum two years of experience in related employment preferred
 Experience using complex databases; Tessitura or other ticketing system and development database knowledge preferred. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Visual Basic helpful.
 Demonstrated proficiency in SQL. Experience with HTML and Razor markup syntax helpful.
 Strong organizational and analytical skills
 Ability to work independently and with initiative
 Discretion and ability to process confidential information in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
 Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of desktop applications
 Effective communication with and collaboration with technical and non-technical staff

Special Considerations (Work Environment, Schedule, Required Travel, etc.)
 Occasional weekend and after-hours support required. Attend industry and vendor conferences/summits and user group meetings.

 Windows PCs, ticket scanners, tablets (Microsoft and Apple), and EMV card readers
