Assistant Director, Stewardship

POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of Stewardship supports the design and execution of a comprehensive stewardship program designed to connect, acknowledge, recognize, build, and sustain meaningful relationships with donors at Pomona College.

As a collaborative, and donor-centric, and relationship-building professional, the Assistant Director supports the stewardship team as a well-integrated part of Pomona College’s overall fundraising program and provides thought leadership and solutions in preparation for the most aspirational, comprehensive campaign in the history of the College. Working dynamically, effectively, and proactively across a diverse network of Advancement colleagues, donors, volunteers, staff, faculty, and other key stakeholders, the Assistant Director will support a customer-service oriented and successful donor-centric model of stewardship.

The Assistant Director is responsible for the execution, support, and delivery of stewardship programs, individualized stewardship plans, and activities designed to ensure donors feel how much the College appreciates their gifts, and to help them understand the impact of their philanthropic support. In addition to the timely and accurate delivery of personalized stewardship plans and deliverables for major donors in consultation and coordination with the Director of Stewardship, Associate Director of Stewardship and other colleagues, the Assistant Director is responsible for managing and executing donor acknowledgment processes, special event-related tasks, and other donor-centric activities as assigned. The Assistant Director also collects, manages, and disseminates information from student recipients, stewardship activities, and works proactively to build, cultivate, and sustain positive relationships between the College and its major donors, as well as donors at all levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Education/Licenses/Certificates: Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid driver’s license is required or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events.  Experience: A minimum of 3 years of advancement or related field experience at an academic institution is preferred.  Application: A résumé, cover letter, and at least 2 writing samples must be submitted.

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required.  Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS:  Regular, full-time, non-exempt position.  Starting pay rate: $33.00 per hour.  Please submit your resume, cover letter, and at least 2 writing samples must be submitted.
