The SF Marin Food Bank is comprised of a dedicated team of approximately 150 staff working collaboratively to provide close to 80 million pounds of food to over 210,000 people in the Bay Area – a region where 1 in 5 people are at risk of hunger. We are currently looking for a Project Lead (Temp) to help coordinate the day-to-day operations of our delivery service. POSITION PURPOSE


The Project Lead is responsible providing support and leadership to the volunteers at the San Francisco Marin Foodbank. Lead a group of volunteers who are responsible to sorting and packing groceries for the Pantry at Home Program. The Pantry at Home program delivers groceries to “high risk” participants over 65 or those with underlying health conditions that puts them at a larger risk of complications. The program makes it, so these participants do not have to risk going to a grocery store or stand in long lines at a Pop-up Pantry This supports their ability to self-isolate and remain healthy. Participants receive a weekly bag of groceries that includes seasonal produce, lean protein, grains, and shelf-stable items.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Volunteer Supervision and Project Management


• Responsible for overseeing and assisting the volunteers. This can include managing program supplies, set-up, check-in, sorting and packing food boxes.
• Trains, supervises, and assigns roles to a team, ensuring adherence to existing guidelines and protocols.
• Orientates volunteers.
• Helps set up and coordinate projects onsite.
• Works with volunteer team to ensure proper set-up and clean-up of the food packing tent.
• Supports in the coordination and coverage of breaks for volunteers.
• Sorting and preparing meal kits for the Pantry at Home’s curb side pick-up service.
• Makes sure workspace if tidy and clean.
• Ensures social distancing and other public health best practices among staff, volunteers and participants to minimize the spread of contagions.
• Ensures the volunteer area is a friendly and positive experience for everyone, creating a welcoming and respectful atmosphere.
• Collects and communicates any necessary information to San Francisco-Marin Food Bank staff and the volunteer team.
• Other duties as assigned.
Warehouse Work
• Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) in a safe manner to perform warehouse duties: receiving, storage, agency order pulling, salvage, produce sorting, etc.
• Receive, sort, and process produce, salvage, and food drive products.
• Assist with periodic physical inventories and ongoing inventory control issues.
• Perform other duties and tasks as required.
People Leadership
• Leads the volunteers to ensure a safe and successful packing and sorting.

QUALIFICATIONS


• Demonstrated ability to lead individuals and teams. Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to multi-task.

• Follows all agency policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency procedures. Ability to adhere to safety and standard operating procedures.
• Solid understanding of food safety and public health guidelines to avoid the spread of food borne illnesses and other pathogens - Safe food handling certification preferred.

• Ability to listen and communicate.

ENVIRONMENT: Standard office/ Ability to work outdoors continuously in all kinds of weather.

REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Frequent and regular movements using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Ability to lift 50 pounds

COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to interpret instructions.

MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Fluency in English. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
