The George M. Pullman Educational Foundation (“Foundation”) supports the dreams and aspirations of outstanding graduating high school seniors with merit-based, need-based scholarships and continuing educational support as they pursue their bachelor’s degree at the college or university of their choice.

In 1950, when the Pullman Foundation awarded its first round of scholarships to 60 young men and women from Cook County, it opened a door to opportunity for many who would have been excluded from the possibility that a college degree offers. Now 71 years later, the Foundation has awarded more than $33M in scholarships and roughly 11,000 people proudly call themselves Pullman Scholars.

With the upcoming 75th anniversary in 2024, the Board is looking for a new leader to guide the Foundation to new levels of visibility and build its capacity to generate funding to support programmatic expansion.  This creates a unique opportunity for a mission-focused leader to assume the role of Executive Director.

The Foundation is seeking a highly competent, inspiring, mission driven leader who is passionate about and dedicated to their own development and the development of others. Experience in a senior leadership role reporting directly to or working closely with a Board of Directors is desired.  The Executive Director oversees organizational directions and policies, delivery and maintenance of the Foundation’s programs, fundraising, brand development and all components that support program delivery and overall organizational well-being.

Experience in a leadership role initiating and maintaining fundraising, community relationships and securing the operating funds necessary to sustain current and future operations is needed. The person we seek will be an innovative marketer who will continue to grow visibility for the Foundation to become a strong public presence.

An undergraduate degree from a four-year college or university, is required, graduate degree preferred. Minimum of ten years of senior level management experience is sought.
